Residential buildings in Astaná, Kazajstán.Proposal for Isover Multi Comfort House Competition 2015.In collaboration with: Rubén Barreiro Fuentes and Gabriel Alejo Fernández.

The proporsal places the public program underground, di-gging the whole area, creating thus a ventilation system through the courtyards of the buildings. This generatesits own microclimate, enabling a protected wind street outsi-de, and leaving the rest of the surface available to green spaces. This measure is born from the necesity of protec-ting each building from the extreme temperatures that are achieved in summer and winter in Kazajistán.Once we have studied the yurts, vernacular architectu-re of Kazakhstan, and taking into consideration its own model of zonification, the modular layout of the buildings is achieved dividing into eight segments the circular plant. One will deal with the vertical circulation, and the remai-ning segments may be used for lofts or family homes. The structure is detached from the partition, being able to unite all the adjacent units if desired, to meet the needs that every type of family requires. The interior layout of the houses is completelly open, because only only the wet cores are isolated. The most significant buildings have set an upper space that hosts various uses: from showrooms, viewpoints on the Expo site, and act as centers of attraction to the architectural ensemble, giving uniqueness to the complex. The building with the largest diameter of the set consists of one floor, to be used as a hotel, while the expo works, and later as a student residence adjacent to the university, after the bioclimatical expo has ended.

Hotel in the historical center of Combarro’s village.Project subject, 3th year, ETSAC. 2014.The volume emerges as the new link between the circulations established in the historic center ofCombarro . The necesity to create a hotel equipment gives an opportunity to generate mobility solutions in the area as well as to reorganise the agrarian system that stands near our area. The building appears as a fragmented volu-me in which each unit, the hotel room, has its own identity . These modules are geared looking for the views of the port of Pontevedra , in particular to the island of Tambo , near the fishing port of Combarro . The complex features a large multifunction volume, which is designed to accommodate large events such as weddings and banquets.

As a separate element from the entrance to the old town complex, we design an isolated volume with a pitched roof , which in turn gives service to the hotel bar , and can be used to turn as exhibition space. This volume serves as an entrance to the complex from the main street of the village.

Residential building in Los Mallos, A Coruña.Project subject, 4th year, ETSAC. 2014.The proposal is born from the creation of a new urban development area in A Sardiñeira, on the outskirts of the district of Los Mallos. The topogra-phy of the environment changes, resulting in the public parking underground plant which lacks the neighborhood, putting in surface public spaces, and forbidding vehicle traffic in the area. The private parking of the houses will have differen-tiated access. We generate promenades through the area of intervention and to invite people to interact and stay. The houses are directly communicated with the parking, and are articulated in two different volu-mes different from the rest of the complex. These volumes don’t exceed in heigh to any other buil-ding in the area, and they open their views over the valley of Coruña, down to the south, maximi-zing the amount of sun that the flats receive. The program covers a wide range of family needs, so that all the pieces are different. The structure is made with beams and reinforced concrete pillars, forming a grid base. The facade of the building has a double skin: the inner skin formed by straight glass curtain wall, and outside made of sliding grid pieces of tramex that allows the light to be controlled by the users.Homes that feature outside courtyards are acces-sible in the ground floor, and enjoy a small arable garden, for both indoor and outdoor playgrounds.

Kindergarden in Los Mallos, A Coruña.Project subject, 4th year, ETSAC. 2015.We don’t only seek to build the children’s equip-ment required in the order, but to completely revi-talize the central courtyard where the building will be located, making it attractive for all age groups from the district. That is why the surface of the kindergaden is reduced to a minimum, and public use is generated on the back of the area. The union of several volumes of soft forms enables the generation of the kindergarden, with a peri-pheral circulation that has a centripetal force of attraction: from every room of the kindergarden the kids can be visually perceive the large central courtyard, allowing infants to always be in contact with the outside, and have small green spaces always near them. The main entrance is located on the top floor, and contains the principal’s office, warehouse, parking strollers and other secondary uses. The walls of the kindergarden are always per-meable to the outside, so that the children do not have the feeling of being locked up. The skin of the building is made of a perforated sheet of aluminum and a glass curtain wall, giving a feeling of lightness, and external closures are based on wooden slats. The largest volume contains the kitchen and dining hall, that can be converted into a multipur-pose room for those days when the weather does not allow the kids to develop outdoor activities

We face an urban intervention in the unfinished area of San Amaro’s field, immediately adjacent to the Cemetery of San Amaro, the beach and the golf course, as well as the protec-tion zone of Unesco’s, near Hercules Tower. The project’s area consists of a grop of unfinished houses and streets, a bag of land adjoining the nursing center ‘Torrente Ballester’, and an old area of agriculture that still has old buildings that are currently used as warehouses for construction’s materials. Besides, it is adjacent to the Sea Club of San Amaro which sports facilities are located at the bottom of the road, down the promenade, and the beach exhibition is currently associa-ted with the neighborhood. This area particularly complex topographical characteristics and natures of their different pieces poses a challenge when it comes to unify and consolidate its entirety. Our first priority when considering the exercise will be to not manipulate the existing reality, thus making the intervention as realistic as possible. With this we seek not to alter the nature of the site but to maximize the virtues it has. Under this premise, we develop a plan of urban consolidation and resolve the problems we have found through the analysis. The area will be split and studied always seeking harmony and dialogue with the whole inter-vention.When we realized this work, as it was a very large area, we worked with physical and virtual models for the actual state of the site and the final proposal, for a better understanding of the place where we settled our masterplan.

Intergenerational residence and new neighbourhood in San Amaro.Proyect subject, 5th year, ETSAC. Year 2015.

The proposed intervention for the unfinished part of the housing block will collect some intergenerational residential buildingsthat will conclude the facade adjacent to the San Amaro ce-metery area. These homes will be provided with two auxiliary volumes, at the front, all the pieces forming a public square related to this environment. These two auxiliary volumes will house a small restaurant, a study hall and library for the use of the students staying in the new buildings. The ground floor of these homes will be used as a day center where older people living in these buildings will daily and outdoor activities. The houses are guarded from the prevailing winds with a subtle twist on the facade, which will be protected by a double skin ofaluminum shee; and will de provided with a service floor at hei-ght + 35m which will include laundry, meeting room, computer room and communal dining room to meet the needs of coexis-tence between different neighbors. In the space in relation to the nursing center ‘Torrente Ballester’, designed as core of the new neighborhood center we create two small equipments: a small supermarket, a community center to host the common activities of the neighbors, and a public parking that will be used by these facilities, as well as the current sporting club of San Amaro.

In this way the whole proposal presents an unified image, creating a small ecosystem that will enrich the current landsca-pe of the area and will seek to promote its use, through proper management of the activities developed there. This, however, continues to be a proposal. The very people who inhabit these spaces are the ones which should give them its meaning, in order to make this proposal to become a reality.

Skatepark in A Sardiñeira, A Coruña.Project subject, 4th year. ETSAC. 2014.

The main problems to be solved by this small intervention are to convert the space into a focus that attracts urban life, toencourage the space to be used by young and elderly (usual users of this park) and to provide shelter against the typical rainy days that the city own. It was decided to create a Skatepark in this esplanade. These practices contribute to create surprising urban events. With regard to architecture, skateboarding in urbanism represents compounds of opportunities offered by physical and emotional con-tours of the city. The practice of skate-boarding and other urban sports require a distinctive space to practice; it is difficult to find districts that facilitate appropriate areas. This esplanade offers us an oppor-tunity to generate, through four simple curvilinear structures, four organic wave-bands, creating thus a continuous sheet on which to skate.Skateboarding gradually improves the li-ves of the users of public space, because it is an activity that contributes to the varie-ty, vitality, security of the neighbourhood and covers extensive hours of use.

Meeting Area for Øya Festival. Oslo, Noruega.Proposal for 120 hours competition 2014.In collaboration with: Rubén García Garrido.

As part of the Oya Festival, it is required a space that serves as a point of exchange and relaxation area. Our proposal consists of a base: wooden podium with a topography manipulated basement to provide different spaces, with different levels of intimacy, which can accommodate all the uses that the festival might require. As a distinctive element of the set, a series of mega-structures that provide shade to the space formed by hoists anchored in the ground, with few bright fabrics that will work as a taut structure: the waterproof fabric will tighten with a ring Edge steel, and their height can be regulated according to the sun position. If necessary, it will evacuate the water from the structures thorugh the central hole, in which some spillways can be arranged. This set is easily noticeable from all points of the area of the festi-val, and you can enjoy the view of the concerts from it because of its good location with the arrangement of the stage. The final solution turns out to be extremely cheap, one of the fun-damental requirements of the contest, also being completely re-movable and reusable, and it can be constructed completely from recycled materials and with lower CO2 emissions than a regular scenario patent.

FETSAC (http://fetsac.tumblr.com)Architecture Festival from A Coruña Architecture School. The Association of Active Students of Archi-tecture performs the Architecture Festival of A Coruña since 2007. That is why it is an event recognized by the university and the city of A Coruna, whose quality is increasing year after year.

During the FETSAC 13, FETSAC 14 and FETSAC 15 festivals I was part of the large group of students who were involved in its develop-ment, performing various activities, but focu-sing my contribution in the fields of accoun-ting and development of merchandising for the festival. In turn, I have taken part in the development of conference committees and activities of these editions. Most of the time I helped to program scheduling different events, and specifying the transports and accommoda-tion for special guests.

To a lesser extent, I have commissioned work broadcasted on social networks, contacted with architects and artists, and seeked spon-sorship for FETSAC 2014. In addition, all par-ticipating students have organized various recreational activities for younger students school during the week of the festival, such as breakfast, games and exhibitions in the workshops.
