1. Open Ultrasite and login using your Ultrasite credentials. The default credentials are as follows: a. Username: USER b. Password: PASS 2. After logging in, the Ultrasite tree view should appear. There are 2 methods of connecting to an E2 controller using an Ethernet cable. One is by directly connecting the controller to a laptop or computer and the other is by connecting both the controller and laptop to a common local area network using two separate cables and a router. 3. This guide is for directly connecting the E2 to the Laptop. A cross-over cable is required for this process. For laptops that support Auto MDI-X feature, the transmit and receive terminals are automatically switched for straight-through ethernet cables. The rule of thumb is if the commonly available straight-through Ethernet cable being used can’t connect even after the correct setup for direct connection has been followed, a cross-over cable would be required.

1. Open Ultrasite and login using your Ultrasite credentials. The default credentials are as follows:

a. Username: USER

b. Password: PASS

2. After logging in, the Ultrasite tree view should appear. There are 2 methods of connecting to an

E2 controller using an Ethernet cable. One is by directly connecting the controller to a laptop or

computer and the other is by connecting both the controller and laptop to a common local

area network using two separate cables and a router.

3. This guide is for directly connecting the E2 to the Laptop. A cross-over cable is required for this

process. For laptops that support Auto MDI-X feature, the transmit and receive terminals are

automatically switched for straight-through ethernet cables. The rule of thumb is if the

commonly available straight-through Ethernet cable being used can’t connect even after the

correct setup for direct connection has been followed, a cross-over cable would be required.

4. After connecting both ends of the cable to the Laptop and the E2, the IP settings of the two

devices should be configured. First, go to the E2 controller and log-in and from the home screen,

hit --- to get to the General Controller Information screen.

5. Press 3 times to get to the TCP/IP tab.

6. If the controller is being monitored by Emerson or is already connected to a store network,

DHCP Enabled could be set to yes or the IP settings are already configured according to store IT

requirements. If this is the case the computer laptop just needs to connect to the same network

as the E2. See step 9 for the procedure on how to do this. If there are no valid IP settings, you

may need to setup one for a direct connection. Use the following addresses for easier setup.

Remember to take a picture of the previous settings just in case they are being used.

a. IP address: 192.168.0.2

b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

c. Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

7. After editing the parameters and making sure they are correct, Press the button to

save the settings. The next part would be to configure the IP address of the Windows computer.

The following instructions assume that the computer is running Windows 7:

a. Press start then click on the Control Panel.

b. On the control panel menu, click on Network and Internet.

c. Click on Network and Sharing Center

d. Click on Change adapter settings

e. On the Network connections screen, look for the Local Area Connection where the E2 is

connected. Right click on this setting and choose Properties.

f. On the Local Area connection properties screen, click on Internet Protocol version 4

(TCIP/IPv4) and choose Properties.

g. Click on the radio button for Use the following IP address then type the following

settings. Click OK after.

1. IP Address: 192.168.0.3

2. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

3. Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

8. Going back to the Ultrasite application, setup the site for connection. Either create a new site or

edit an existing site. Click on the Edit Communications Information option.

9. On the Edit Site screen, choose E2 on the devices list, Einstein TCP/IP for the Connection type

and type in the IP address used by the controller: If the controller is on the network, type in the

IP address found on the E2. If following this guide, type 192.168.0.2. Click OK after.

10. Right click on the site and click connect.
