Maybe it’s slow dancing, stirring in the
50's & 60's favorites, shakin' it down
to the memorable 70's and 80's or a
perhaps topping it off with a sizzling
Rock 'n Roll tune from somewhere in
between, Flashback will serve you the
recipe for good fun.
Saturday, February 17, 7:00 - 10:00 pm
Tickets $8. Available at Kaffee Klatch
Or from Lois Katz 727 201-8586
(Notice the new dance times.)
HOME OWNER’S BOARD Deb Engstrom, President
Gate committee meetings are complet-ed. If 75% of units 2 and 5 (where the gates are proposed to be located) vote in favor of gates, the vote will then be brought to the other units some time in February. If this occurs, each household will receive voting information.
We are looking for an HOA treasurer as Laura Mann has submitted her resignation effective February 15th. If you have a financial background, please consider stepping up and volunteering for your community by informing me by Sunday, February 4th of your interest. Laura will offer all assistance necessary for a smooth transition. Questions about what is involved? Call Laura (727)556-0317. Community Safety Officer Gatti will be joining us at Kaf-fee Klatch, Thursday, February 1st. Come and meet him! The board is currently working on two very important
contracts, painting and the lawn. The most urgent is the lawn contract which is due to expire with our current vendor on March 31st. To find out more of what's go-ing on, board meeting minutes are posted on the club-house bulletin board and also online at www.themainlands.com. Saturday, May 12th, there will be a community wide smoke detector program provided by the fire depart-ment. Expired smoke detectors and/or batteries will be replaced free of charge. They will place signup sheets in the clubhouse sometime in February. Hope all of you will take advantage of this great program! Upcoming HOA meetings:
February 22 (6:30pm open forum; 7pm meeting)
March 22 (9:30am open forum; 10am meeting)
Officer James Gatti: Cell - (727) 244-1715

BEAN SUPPAH TRIVIA
So Why is the Bean Suppah held on a
Wednesday?
The Bowling League plays on Wednesdays
from 1 to about 3:30pm. Several of the
players go out to dinner after (usually a
place that has a two-fer or early-bird dis-
count). 17 years ago when Helen and I
started the Old Fashioned New England
style Bean Suppahs, Sis Manhard suggest-
ed we hold it on Wednesday and the bow-
lers will come here to eat. That’s it. Now
you can wow your friends with your newly
acquired factoid about Unit 3.
GARAGE SALE Mickey Harwood
Friday, March 9th from 8am to 12 noon. $5 fee to cover the cost of ad-vertising. Please sign up on the bulle-tin board in the clubhouse.
This is your once-a-year opportunity to replace that “stuff” in your garage with a nice, big space for your expensive car.
Contact number for Mickey is 727 573-0414.
This winter has seen a lot of sickness here in
Mainlands. One really good prevention is hand
washing and wiping down knobs, phones, steer-
ing wheels etc. with Lysol or Clorox wipes. The
Class for Diabetes is going well, Flo and I are
learning a lot as well as the students. This is a six
week program with strict attendance rules; you
must make up missed classes. We look forward to
the spring and having some speakers on health
topics.

Remember “What’s My Line?”
Helen and I would like to do a show in the clubhouse, again, called WHAT WAS MY LINE? This will be the third time we’ve done it. Lot’s of fun. We’d like to get newer residents who
have had an interesting career or life experience, volunteer as candidates to be interviewed by a panel of four residents who try to guess “What Was Your Line?
As examples: previous contestants were pickle packer, bronco buster, lumberjack, race car driver, sheep herder in Germany during WW2, and more. So if you’ve para-sailed after age 65 or been in a submersible to view the Titanic or window washer on a 50-story building or
something out of the ordinary, you’re a perfect candidate.
If you think you’d be interested in participating or want more information, please contact Helen or Peter Cunningham at 727 592-9715 or email [email protected]. We’ll keep your infor-mation confidential “until showtime.” We’re thinking of sometime in March so please contact
us soon.

The January 23rd walking group enjoying the view from the 30’ high tower in the
JOHN CHESTNUT SR PARK – PALM HARBOR. Lower right, two more in our group
waiting for the “imaginary elevator” to carry them up the tower :) See the February
walking schedule elsewhere in this issue. The walks are open to all Mainlands resi-
dents and guests. The group usually strives for 3 to 5 mile walks but the trails are
usually such that walks can be easily shortened if desired.
For an exciting evening out, THE SPOTLIGHT DANCERS & CAST will present a fabulous floor show with great dance numbers, beautiful costumes and great singers with refreshments served afterwards. Please don't forget to add this spe-cial date to your calendar. Date: THURS MARCH 15th, 2018 7 p.m.
For all new residents who have not experienced one of our shows, you won't want to miss this.
TICKETS: $7. On sale beginning THURSDAY, FEB. 8th, at Kaffee Klatch or to pre-order, call Jean Simpson at 727-272-4531. Seating will be limited to 80.
PROCEEDS FROM TICKET SALES WILL BE DONATED TO A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
