A PRAYER FOR AMERICA
Father in Heaven, We, the people, in the land of the free
and the home of the brave, desperately need You.
Oh that we would leave our ways of seeking to be
blessed and instead seek to bless others.
We beg for Your guidance and wisdom for our leaders.
We ask You to protect our land from enemies, both
within and without. And we praise you for the freedom
we have through Your will and care and the sacrifices of
many people who laid down their lives for us.
Amen
The parish staff wishes everyone a safe & happy Fourth of July holiday.

GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE
June 28, 2020 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
When we were baptized, we were baptized into Christ’s death. Take a moment to ponder these profound words. We were baptized into death. In every sense of the word, we are asked to die. This is not just about our final death but about daily deaths due to inconvenience, discomfort, pain, loss, or others’ needs. This is an incredible epiphany given the way we very often approach our lives. We do everything to avoid death, let alone encounter it! Many avoid pain, discomfort, inconvenience, uneasiness, change, interference, and suffering of any kind. We put a lot of energy into finding the easiest and least inconvenient way through many things. Even holding the door open for a stranger or saying hello to someone in the store can be major undertakings. We are called to die. One of the biggest wake-up calls we can have is realizing that life is not about us! There are millions of other people sharing life on this planet with whom I have a relationship. Does my life celebrate those relationships? The most distracting question we can ask is, “What do I want to do?” The more focused, faith-filled question is, “What do I need to do?” What I need to do may not be what I want to do. However, asking this question more frequently will teach us how to more purposefully and intentionally live so we can be a life giving vessel for others. When we learn to live more sacrificially, to put the needs of others before our own, and to not always seek our own self-interest, we become aware of what baptism into Christ’s death is really all about. These are the roots of virtue and the seedbed for justice, tolerance, solidarity, love, and peace. Learning how to accept all the “small deaths” and sacrifices life calls us to teaches us how to approach our final death. All deaths ask us to empty ourselves into something or someone else. Whether we empty ourselves into the heart and soul of another human being or empty ourselves into God at the moment of our final death, new life is always received and nurtured. A heart that exclusively seeks its own interest is a heart that is closed to love. A heart that pours itself out to others and is content with being emptied is a heart that has been touched by and open to mercy. It is a heart that overflows with joy. ©LPi

JUNE 28, 2020 - 13TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME “…whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is
not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:38)
Pope Benedict XVI said, “The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness.” “Comfort” puts me first. “Picking up your cross and following Jesus” puts God and others first. Why settle for comfort when you can achieve greatness! Pick up your cross, ask Jesus for guidance on using your gifts and live the life God intended for you!
WEEKDAY MASSES are now scheduled on
Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:30 am.

SPACE AVAILABLE IN THE NEW SECTION OF THE CEMETERY
Our Lumen Christi Cemetery expansion and improvement
project is almost complete and we are ready to show you
the beautiful improvements.
We have made available the first 3 rows at the west side
of the “old” cemetery in the new space. Each plot is
10’X5’ and costs $1,000 (and many couples chose
10’X10’ as a double plot for $2,000). One full body or
three cremations (or a combination) can be buried in a
single plot. A double plot holds two full bodies or six
cremations (or a combination). You are welcome to go to
the cemetery and look at the new space on your own.
For your safety, please park on Range Line road
whenever visiting the cemetery. The Mequon road
entrance is not finished and curb parking is not available.
If you are considering an above ground burial, there is
space available in our columbaria. Each niche costs
$2,700 and holds up to two urns. There is a brochure
available regarding the columbaria in the Parish office.
Please contact Jane Bartlett, Director of Finance, at
[email protected] or Fran Blaubach, Parish
Administrative Assistant, at
[email protected] or at 262-242-7967
to discuss your burial space needs.

Comment from participating family in the last Virtual Trivia event. “It was great fun, we were a bit nervous since we were the oldest on the Zoom session, but the format is multiple choice and it was really a lot of fun. Great way to get know other parish families, and some from outside our Parish Family. I would highly recommend you consider joining the session.”
