Times Infinity Volume One is The Dears’ sixth studio album, released in the year of their 20th anniversary. Written over a two-year period,

the album was recorded at Toronto’s Revolution Recording and Montreal’s Thee Mighty Hotel2Tango in 2014. Recorded by Dave Schiffm

and Howard Bilerman, Times Infinity is a shocking re-affirmation of the band’s continuing vitality. Eyebrows will be raised.

Rub , Peaches’ first album of new material in 6 years album is her most adventurous, audacious musical statement yet. Itcontinues on the bold, sexually progressive path she forged 15 years ago that's opened the door for countless others to follow. Ruwas recorded over the course of 2014 in Peaches’ Los Angeles garage studio collaborating with her longtime friend Vice Cooler.

"After six years, I was excited about my lyrics again, about what Peaches was," she explains. "I felt more comfortable living out anyidea I wanted to try. We spent ten hours a day making beats, and whatever stuck, I would write on and develop. The only agendawas to make the best album we could."

Oozing with seductive rhythms and bedroom-rattling bass, the record opens with the semi-spoken hook of 'Close Up,' delivered witan inimitable and impenetrable cool by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon in just one take. Peaches' old collaborator Feist also returns oalbum closer 'I Mean Something,' singing a hypnotic hook and lending a chillingly beautifully wordless melody. The album also hastwo breakup songs, the dark and disturbing 'Free Drink Ticket' and the insanely catchy pop song 'Dumb Fuck,' which find Peachesaddressing issues far more personal than political. Peaches will once again direct and curate videos for each song on the album.

The past six years have been some of the busiest and most productive years in her artistic career. From her one-woman productionof 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' (renamed Peaches Christ Superstar), to 'Peaches Does Herself,' an electro-rock opera which morphedinto a film of the same name to singing the title role in a production of Monteverdi's epic 17th-century opera 'L'Orfeo' in Berlin andcollaborating with Yoko Ono, Major Lazer, Le Tigre, REM, and more.

Shawn Colvin is an esteemed, multi‐Grammy winning singer‐songwriter. Her 1989 debut, ‘Steady On,” won a Grammy for Best

Her new album, Uncovered , is inspired by her successful Columbia album “Cover Girl”. Steuart Smith, the Eagles guitarist, serves as a

Shawn Colvin says that “for many years, as a performer in clubs and bars and coffeehouses, all I did was play songs written by other

artists. I did not write, although I longed to. Eventually, I was able to. After I got a recording contract in 1988, it seemed fitting that at

some point I ought to pay tribute to those songs that sustained my career for such a long time. So, in 1994 I made a record with Steuar

Smith and it was aptly called Cover Girl . Twenty‐one years later, even though I am primarily known as the composer of my material, I'v

Following the disappointing commercial performance of the dance‐oriented Hot Space in 1982, Queen took 1983 off to get refocused and work on a

follow‐up that would put the band back on track. While the songwriting had definitely improved on the resulting The Works in 1984, the album

sonically lacked the punch of such earlier releases as News of the World and The Game (strangely, Hot Space even had a better overall sound).

Although the

peaked

at

number

23

on

the

charts,

it

was

Ten

hit

in

A Kind of Magic was Queen’s biggest album yet in England, where it reached number one, remained on the charts for 63 weeks, and spawned severa

hit singles ‐‐ the epic title track, the tuneful pop/rocker "Friends Will Be Friends," and one of their most haunting ballads, "Who Wants to Live Foreve

(also included was the Live Aid‐inspired hit anthem "One Vision," which was originally released as a single in 1985). Most of the songs were written fo

the movie

Like The Miracle, Innuendo was another strong album and global hit (again going gold in the U.S.). With hindsight, the song's lyrics are blatantly

autobiographical from Mercury's standpoint, such as the reflective "These Are the Days of Our Lives" and the bold "The Show Must Go On." Also

included are a pair of tracks that deal with mankind's inability to live harmoniously (the superb epic title track and "All God's People") and a humorou

tribute to Mercury's beloved pet felines ("Delilah"). Queen's heavier side is represented by both the rock radio hit "Headlong" and "The Hitman," whi

"I'm Going Slightly Mad," "I Can't Live With You," and "Don't Try So Hard" show the band's pop sensibilities in full force, and on "Bijou," Brian May get

During the 1980s, Queen ceased to be a big record seller in the U.S., but maintained its superstar status at home. In the '90s, following

the death of Freddie Mercury, there was a brief resurgence of interest in America triggered by the inclusion of "Bohemian Rhapsody" i

the movie Wayne's World. But in 1995, when the surviving members got around to releasing the final recordings done with Mercury in

the form

of

Made

in

Heaven,

the

status

quo

had

returned.

The

album

topped

the

charts

in

Western

Europe,

with

its

single,

"Heaven

fo

Everyone," reaching the Top Ten, while in the U.S. it was on and off the charts within weeks. Musically, Made in Heaven harked back t

Queen's 1970s heyday with its strong melodies and hard rock guitar playing, topped by Mercury's bravura singing and some of the

massed choir effects familiar from "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Even if one did not know that these songs were sung in the shadow of death, that subject would be obvious. The lyrics were imbued

with life‐and‐death issues, from the titles ‐‐ "Let Me Live," "My Life Has Been Saved," and "Too Much Love Will Kill You" ‐‐ to lines like

"It's hopeless ‐‐ so hopeless to even try" ("It's a Beautiful Day"), "Waiting for possibilities/Don't see too many around" ("Made in

Heaven"), and "I long for peace before I die" ("Mother Love"). The odd thing about this was that Mercury's over‐the‐top singing had

always contained a hint of camp humor, and it continued to here, even when the sentiments clearly were as heartfelt as they were

theatrically overstated. Maybe Mercury was determined to go out the same way he had come in, as a diva. If so, he succeeded.

At the time this legendary Bob Dylan gig was performed, his

debut record had been in the shops just four months, and Dylan

was still a virtual unknown in circles outside of the Greenwich

Village folk community. But in the summer of 1962, Terri van

Ronk, wife of the late great Village folksinger Dave van Ronk,

began arranging a few out-of-town gigs for the fresh-faced young

Bob. He was brought in at short notice to perform at MoeFeinberg's PotPourri Club, located at 1432 Stanley Street in

Montreal; Dylan was apparently paid $125 for a four-night

engagement there, which ran from June 28th to July 1st.

Unfortunately, those shows were not documented, but Dylan was

asked to stay on in Montreal and on July 2nd he performed at the

Finjan Club on Victoria Avenue.

Having become enamoured with the jazz-rock fusion movement,

the group entered the studio initially intent on recording an

instrumental-heavy jazz-influenced album, but reportedly, bassist

Peter Cetera and long-time producer William Guercio were both

sceptical about taking such a dramatic step. With an album's

worth of instrumental material too strong to ignore, and the group

also writing enough pop and rock material to fill another album inthe meantime, they decided to release all of it as yet another

double album, a format they hadn't pursued since their third. This

proved to be a wise decision. Despite the first disc being almost

exclusively jazz-influenced instrumentals, the album went to hit

the #1 spot on the billboard chart. This was a live band that was

quite capable of backing up the promise of their best studio

recordings onstage.

By 1970, Davis was performing before the largest audiences ofhis career, often opening for popular rock bands of the era. Hehad opened for The Band at the Hollywood Bowl, and onFillmore East bills for headliners Laura Nyro and Neil Young &Crazy Horse. He also played a multi-night run in April '70opening for the Grateful Dead at Fillmore West. Theseperformances brought Davis a new younger audience that might

not have understood the genesis of his music, but dug it just thesame. It's a telling comment on Miles' relentlessly forward-looking vision that a mere sixteen months after recording BitchesBrew, and barely eight months after releasing it tounprecedented commercial success, he had effectively droppedmost of its material from his live repertoire. On this performance,Davis focuses primarily on new compositions ("What I Say,""Honky Tonk," Funky Tonk," and "Yesternow"), with only elevenminutes of the hour-plus performance exploring established cuts"Bitches Brew" and "Sanctuary". "Yesternow," a ferocious trackDavis had recorded the previous April for the Tribute to JackJohnson film, is followed by the title track from Bitches Brew,concluding with another new composition, "Funky Tonk." Duringthe nearly 35 minutes of music contained in these last threepieces, the group's power and precision is nothing short ofastounding. Apart from the set-closing cue of "The Theme," littleof this music derives from Miles' jazz period, nor does it fall intothe free jazz category that it is so often mistakenly associatedwith. Pianist, bandleader and composer Claude Thornhill was one

the most respected personalities in the swing and big band er

admired by his peers for the unique, distinctive and stylish

approach of his orchestras, as well as his skill and versatility

pianist within other leaders' orchestras, especially when

accompanying the top singers of the day. He came to

prominence in the mid-30s, playing with the bands of Benny

Goodman, Louis Prima, Ray Noble, Billie Holiday and Maxine

Sullivan before forming his own orchestra in 1937. His unusu

and original sound came from the fact that his musical texture

did not employ vibrato, with the colour coming from using

instruments often not associated with jazz. Working with arran

Gil Evans in the '40s, he made some highly innovative record

which greatly influenced bebop artists like Miles Davis, and hi

work stands apart from many of his contemporaries during th

years.

This excellent-value 46-track collection covers the two core

decades of his career, from his studio debut in 1934 through t

1953, by which time changing tastes and the economic climahad seen the demise of most big bands.

Lief Liebmann believes you can't take second chances for

granted. The New York-based musician should know:

Liebmann's band A Love Like Pi, which formed in 2006, has

seen more than its share of bad luck over the past few years.

First, on the eve of releasing their debut album The Atlas And

The Oyster in 2009, the president of A Love Like Pi's record la

passed away in a plane crash. Then, just as the band joined t

roster of Roadrunner Records, the label merged with Atlantic A Love Like Pi recorded an album that was shelved. Band

members left, reducing the band to Liebmann himself. Tough

breaks to be sure, but nothing could stop the music. After the

success of the E.P., Lief went back into the studio with produ

Part of the SyFy Channel's seemingly endless parade of killercritters and mega monsters, SHARKTOPUS was unleashed in2010, staking its claim as perhaps a new pinnacle in its series oforiginal monster mashes. To score SHARKTOPUS, producerRoger Corman and director Declan O'Brien returned to composerTom Hiel, who had already established a creative relationshipafter working together on ROCK MONSTER and CYCLOPS.

Hiel's score for SHARKTOPUS was produced using synthesizersand sampled symphonic WAVE files, which allowed thecomposer to closely replicate a live orchestral performancewithout the expense, emphasizing the synthesizer's ability tocreate unique musical sounds. Living and working in the Los

Angeles area, Tom Hiel is an award winning composer for filmand television. Hiel is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota,where he recorded and performed his original solo piano andsynthesizer introspections at clubs, galleries and collegecampuses across the country. John Scofield updates his early-’90s quartet with drummer Bill Stewart and saxophonist Joe Lovano by recruiting bassist Larry

Grenadier for his fetching, appropriately titled impulse! debut, Past Present. Between 1990 and 1992, the celebrated guitarist

released three well-received discs – Meant to Be, Time on My Hands and What We Do – for the Blue Note label as the John

Scofield Quartet. On those records, either Marc Johnson or Dennis Irwin played bass. Nevertheless, Grenadier also has history

playing with Scofield; he toured with Scofield in support of the 1996 disc, Quiet.

The nine exciting tunes Scofield penned on Past Present also reflects his philosophy on playing jazz music. He stresses the

importance of being knowledgeable of the music’s deep, complex roots while simultaneously being spontaneous and in the

moment while performing it. For an artist with such a multifaceted discography as Scofield’s, getting to the root of jazz means

channeling the blues, as demonstrated on the disc’s closing, titled-track.
