It all started as a bit of fun between friends. A bunch of accomplished musicians from the Finnish countryside decided to play AC/DC's “Thunderstruck” on the front yard of their home, wore the stupidest outfits they could find, had a pal of theirs shoot the whole thing onvideo and posted it on YouTube. Next thing they knew, the video went viral. It ramped up five million views in a couple of weeks andearned praise and coverage from the elite of the metal media, with Guitar World, Revolver, Loudwire, Blabbermouth and Metal Sucks picking up on and writing about their efforts.

Steve ‘n’ Seagulls just may have the greatest band name in history (though a certain expressionless action movie hero might disagree).The five-piece act is comprised of an acoustic guitar player who also leads on vocals, a banjo player, a big dude wearing overalls and abeaver hat playing mandolin and/or keyboards and/or accordion, a double-bassist and a percussionist squatting on a cajon drum. Theircovers of immortal heavy metal standards seem to work just as novelties at first, but when you pay closer attention to the playing, you’llbe blown away by how air-tight the band is.

In case you're one of the rare specimens who've never participated in a Metallica line dance (a very common pastime in the Finnishcountryside), this stuff might beg for an explanation. Despite their Northern origins, these covers sound like they were played on anAppalachian porch in between swigs of hooch. But because a good song is good song, no matter what you play it with, Steve ‘n’ Seagulls

just gleefully pick on their instruments and the arrangements end up every bit as catchy and infectious as the originals, just more fun.

Despite the rambunctious nature of the project, it's not a novelty act, with Steve 'N' Seagulls saying, "Even though we like to have funwith music we also truly take it seriously. That's why we feel that Spinefarm is just the label for us. We've been basically working onsongs that we find interesting and what makes us feel good and laugh. It looks like accidentally other people found them interesting too.We're absolutely stunned to be working on our first album with Spinefarm. It's important to us that label is also all about music."

Key Points:In 1990 London's indie rock guitar scene was developing a distinctive new psychedelic sound: swirling, dreamy, mysterious and very muchof the British Isles. One band stood out by hot-wiring that sound with the subversive energy of some American bands of the era and that

band was Swervedriver. They had the liquid distortion of shoe gaze combined with the cool swagger of Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, andDinosaur Jr - giving them a unique sound and attitude.

Their full-length debut, 1991's Raise , to this day is hailed by Pitchfork as an album full of "muscular, scorching guitars" that "still bring thenoise like nobody's business" with Mojo stating that Son of Mustang Ford "remains one of the most glorious tunes to emerge in the wake ofthe so-called grunge explosion of '89”.

Swervedriver went on hiatus in 1998 and then reunited at the 2008 Coachella festival. In 2013 everything was ratcheted up several notcheswhen Swervedriver released their first single in 15 years, "Deep Wound." Spin Magazine called it a "warm, confidently roiling return" withMojo adding "those same distorted pop sensibilities remain reassuringly intact" and the band debuted the song on "Late Night with JimmyFallon".

USM are pleased to be releasing the anthology boxed set, collecting Spooky Tooth’s albums released during their years at

Island, 1967 – 1974.

Spooky Tooth was an English rock band principally active, with intermittent breakups, between 1967 and 1974. Crucial to

their sound was their instrumentation; they were one of the relatively few rock acts of the time to adopt the twin keyboardapproach (both an organ and a piano player). They formed in October 1967, when Gary Wright joined the band Art. The band name Art only existed from April to October 1967. Art was renamed from The V.I.P.'s, as the name f itted better to thenew musical direction taken on the album Supernatural Fairy Tales. Gary Wright held a significant role from the start. He

wrote the majority of the first Spooky Tooth album, some even with record producer Jimmy Miller instead of band

members.

We will be releasing the set in two formats; CD and vinyl:

A 9 CD set comprising all the Island albums by SPOOKY TOOTH, including “Supernatural Fairy Tales” by ART (their earlier incarnation), and many rare and previously unreleased bonus tracks, including a full concert from April 1972, recorded in

Germany (DISC NINE) and a 48 ‐page book.

The 8LP vinyl box set comprises straight reissues of the 8 Spooky Tooth / Art albums in replica original packaging. Includes

full‐size repro of the extremely rare 'Art' Island promotional poster (designed by famed psychedelic artists Hapshash and thColoured Coat). Download card entitling the purchaser to all the tracks, including CD set bonus material and live concert.

Ray Conniff became one of the biggest stars of easy listeningmusic as a bandleader and conductor during the 1960s andbeyond, but his career began in the late'30s as a trombonist withBunny Berigan, before joining Artie Shaw as trombonist andarranger in the early '40s. The Spaniels were a pioneering doowop vocal group from Gary,Indiana, and were probably the first successful R&B group toemerge from the USA's MidWestern states. They were also thefirst group to be signed by the new VeeJay label (they hadalready signed Jimmy Smith), and became the label's mostsuccessful vocal group as it established itself as probably the

first independent African-American owned label of anysignificance. The group came together at Roosevelt High Schoolin Gary, led by James 'Pookie' Hudson, and they were the firstvocal group to use the technique of having a lead singer at onemicrophone with the other members at a second.

They scored in 1953 with their first release "Baby It's You", whichmade the R&B Top 10 and in 1954 had their biggest hit with"Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite" which was an R&B No. 5 andcrossed over to No. 24 in the pop charts. This great value 51-track 2-CD collection brings together all the tracks that theyreleased during the first decade of their career, either as A & Bsides of their singles or on their two LPs for VeeJay, and it is agreat showcase for their distinctive vocal talents and high qualitysongwriting. During the latter years of WWII and thereafter, the AmericanForces Radio Service broadcast regular shows to entertain thetroops and maintain morale, and many of the top swing and bigbands of the day undertook 'live' broadcasts as part of this effort.This collection brings together five performances by Count

Basie's Orchestra between 1944 and 1946 at popular New Yorkvenues, which went out as part of the AFRS "One Night Stand"series.

The line-ups feature some of the top names to pass throughBasie's band - Lester Young, Illinois Jacquet, Walter Page, Harry'Sweets' Edison, Dicky Wells and Jo Jones among them, andwith Jimmy Rushing and Thelma Carpenter among the featuredvocalists.

American jazz guitarist John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery, bornMarch 6, 1923, is widely considered one of the major jazzguitarists, emerging after such seminal figures as DjangoReinhardt and Charlie Christian. Montgomery was born inIndianapolis, Indiana to a musical family; his brothers, Monk(double bass and electric bass) and Buddy (vibraphone andpiano), were jazz performers too. In his early career, to supporthis family of eight, Montgomery worked in a factory from 7:00 amto 3:00 pm, then performed in local clubs from 9:00 pm to 2:00am. Cannonball Adderley heard Montgomery in a local club andwas floored. The next morning he called record producer OrrinKeepnews, who signed Montgomery to a recording contract withRiverside Records

This four CD collection features Wes Montgomery's completerecorded output from 1958 - 1962 and includes three classicalbums with Wes as leader, a further four with his brothers,released as The Montgomery Brothers, and the classic

In 1959 Montgomery was signed to the Riverside Records label,and remained there until late 1963, just before the company wentbankrupt. The recordings made during this period are widelyconsidered by fans and jazz historians to be Montgomery's bestand most influential. Two sessions in January 1960 yielded the

record, The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, whichwas recorded as a quartet with pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassistPercy Heath and drummer Albert "Tootie" Heath.

Was Montgomery received many awards and accoladesthroughout his career; he was nominated for two Grammy in 65and received a Grammy for Best Instrumental Jazz Performancein 1966. He was nominated again for his version of The Beatles'"Eleanor Rigby" and the LP Down Here on the Ground in 1968,and posthumously for Willow, Weep for Me in '69. His secondalbum, The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, earnedhim Down Beat magazine's 'New Star' award in 1960. In addition,he won the Down Beat Critic's Poll award for best Jazz guitaristin 1960, '61, '62,'63, '66, and '67.

During this late period he would occasionally turn out originalmaterial alongside jazzy orchestral arrangements of pop songs.In sum, this late period earned him considerable wealth andcreated a platform for a new audience to hear his earlierrecordings.
