COURSE HIGHLIGHTSDesigned for the busy clinician, this exciting full-day course will cover the most common movement disorders seen in clinical practice, including tremor, dystonia, tics, chorea and parkinsonism, as well as gait disorders. Participants will benefit from the expertise of our highly regarded movement disorders faculty, who will provide attendees with high-yield, practical information for recognition, diagnosis, assessment and management of these movement disorders. The afternoon session is dedicated to “bedside teaching” sessions with actual patients. During these sessions, faculty will demonstrate movement disorders examination techniques and share clinical pearls so that participants can be more confident in diagnosing various movement disorders. Primary care physicians, geriatricians, psychiatrists, physiatrists, physicians in training, nurses, physician assistants, and rehabilitation specialists who are interested in learning more about clinical aspects of movement disorders will find this course highly beneficial.

Kelvin L . Chou, MD Kelvin L. Chou, MD, is a Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Department of Neurology. He is the Education and Outreach Core Director for the U-M Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease Research and the Co-Director of the Surgical Therapies Improving Movement (STIM) Program.

Board-certified in Neurology and fellowship-trained in movement disorders, Dr. Chou maintains an active

movement disorders practice. His research is focused on improving the ability to treat movement disorders patients through deep brain stimulation (DBS) by better understanding the relationships between patient baseline characteristics, DBS targeting, and the clinical effects of stimulation.

Kara J . Wyant, MD Kara J. Wyant, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology. She is board certified in Neurology and fellowship trained in movement disorders. She is currently serving as a neurohospitalist at the University of Michigan and provides teleneurology consults for MidMichigan Health System.

Dr. Wyant is actively participating in industry and clinician-led clinical trials for patients with Parkinson

disease piloting in-home tele-health visits to improve access to care for patients in rural Michigan. She is also working with MidMichigan Health System to establish remote DBS and movement disorders clinic.
