This forecast was approved by the NCDOT Transportation Planning Division on June 20, 2019.

Please find attached the 2019 base year and 2045 future year Traffic Forecast for I-5962 located in Iredell County. This is the second

forecast completed for this project; the initial forecast was completed in June, 2018. This forecast was requested by NCDOT on

February 12, 2019.

I-5962 is a new interchange project at I-77 and Cornelius Rd. It also includes the relocation or realignment of Bluefield Rd. I-5962 is

located within Iredell County in NCDOT Division 12. This project is included in the 2018-2027 State Transportation Improvement

Program (STIP).

This project falls within the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) and is contained in the 2045

Metropolitan Transportation Program (MTP), dated March 2018. The Metrolina Regional Travel Demand Model (MRM18v1.1),

adopted April, 2019 was utilized for this forecast along with project counts, and historical AADTs.

The following six (6) scenarios are provided in the forecast:

· 2019 No Build

· 2019 Build #1 – Interchange + Realign Bluefield Rd

· 2019 Build #2 – Interchange + Extend Exmore Rd + Close Bluefield Rd at Cornelius Rd intersection

· 2045 No Build

· 2045 Build #1 – Interchange + Realign Bluefield Rd

· 2045 Build #2 – Interchange + Extend Exmore Rd + Close Bluefield Rd at Cornelius Rd intersection

Certain assumptions were made in the development of the forecast, detailed below.

Fiscal Constraints:

For projects falling within an MPO, forecasts are fiscally constrained to match the assumptions of the MPO’s Metropolitan

Transportation Plan (MTP). The CRTPO MTP is dated March, 2018. This forecast assumes that all projects within the MTP are

constructed and open to traffic in 2045.

Interpolation:

To determine any intermediate years, straight-line interpolation may be used. AADT volumes may be extrapolated for up to two years

immediately following 2045. If it is determined that any of these assumptions have become inconsistent with the project and

surrounding area activity, please request updated information.
