Mission Providence provides accredited training and assessment services in a Service Agreement with Mission Australia’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Mission Australia’s RTO ensures that all training and assessment services carried out on its behalf, comply with the requirements for Registered Training Organisations of the National Vocational Education and Training regulator Act 2011.

How does it work?If you feel you have a good business idea and would like to benefit from the NEIS programme, simply:1. Complete our online application form at

missionprovidence.com.au/neis2. After receipt of your application, we’ll review your

eligibility, and if you are eligible contact you to undertake a Business Feasibility Assessment. We will then let you know if you have been accepted to receive NEIS training.

3. You’ll then commence training Certificate III in Micro Business (BSB30307) or IV in Small Business Management (BSB40407) through a Registered Training Organisation. During the course, you’ll receive training in business management, and also receive assistance to develop a business plan.

4. Your completed plan will be assessed for viability in several key areas such as industry knowledge, qualifications, premises, funding, cashflow and marketing. Where applicable, you’ll receive 39 weeks of NEIS allowance – paid fortnightly – totalling close to ten thousand dollars and paid independently of business income.

5. You’ll also be provided with free business mentoring support and guidance for the first twelve months of your business operation.

NEIS Business Eligibility CriteriaYour proposed business:

— is not currently operating on a commercial basis — will be independent from any other business — must have access to start-up capital: NEIS does not

supply bulk-sum payments such as grants and loans — is lawful and capable of withstanding public scrutiny — does not involve the purchase or the direct takeover

of an existing business — has been assessed as commercially viable by Mission

Providence NEIS

— will not compete directly with existing businesses unless it can be demonstrated that there is an unsatisfied demand for the product or service, or the product or service is to be provided in a new way

— will be established, located and operated solely within Australia

— will be structured so that you maintain a controlling interest over the NEIS Business for the duration of your NEIS Participant Agreement, and

— will not be a not-for-profit business unless otherwise agreed to by the Department of Employment in writing.

NEIS Participant Eligibility CriteriaTo be eligible for NEIS assistance you must:

— be a Stream Participant or a DES Participant in the Employment Assistance Phase Stream. Stream Participants who are Volunteers are only NEIS Eligible if they will commence in NEIS Assistance before the end of their six month Period of Service

— be at least 18 years of age at the time of commencing NEIS Assistance

— be in receipt of an eligible payment specified by the Department of Employment

— not be converting to the Age Pension before or during participation in NEIS Services

— be available to participate in NEIS Training and work Full-Time in the proposed NEIS Business

— not be undischarged bankrupt — have not, at any time, received NEIS Assistance for

a similar business activity — have not received NEIS Assistance in the previous

three years, and — are any other person or persons advised to the

NEIS Provider by the Department in writing from time to time.

The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) helps eligible job seekers to set up and run their own small business.

NEIS can provide you with accredited training in small business, business advice and mentoring, as well as ongoing income support.

All of the training is at no cost, and we’ll also provide you with training materials.

NEIS TrainingAccredited training is provided in Certificate III in Micro Business (BSB30307) or Certificate IV in Small Business Management (BSB40407), through a Registered Training Organisation.

NEIS training is delivered face-to-face in classroom format in metropolitan locations. In regional areas, training is delivered through mixed mode, including face-to-face training or online training.

You will also be assigned with your own training mentor who will assist you through each step of the training.
