I think I was born a traveler.

Before I found myself living in Poznań, I used to be a resident of Polish cities of Białogard, Ustka, Słupsk and Szczecin, then Portuguese town of Viseu, and then Irish capital, Dublin.

A year spent there gave me not only the proficiency in English language, which feels almost as natural as Polish right now, but the ability of getting over all obstacles that life sets in front of me. Jobhunting in crisis-overwhelmed Ireland taught me not to give up,

reaching my aim while constantly getting over my own flaws.

I will be eternally grateful to my parents for getting me into sports and travels- things that always gives me a kick after some tougher time. I love hitchhiking- think because of the

challenge factor it usually involves. This way I’ve got most of Europe map already covered.

But the thing that is not only my passion, but after last six years become my life, is design. Getting full architectural master course, consisting of various design subjects (shaping

things from teaspoon to a county scale) was hard, but satisfying task. An open project is truly a riddle set before one’s feet for him to solve. But there were some things I was still

hungry for, some areas I wanted to explore deeper.

Then the University of Fine Arts came in the picture. I have plunged myself into the miraculous world of art, making sculptures, photographs, painting , drawing, and generally

making myself really free. I got myself into graphic design, exploring typography, publishing, logos, portfolios and all the different printed stuff. But the main point was

always design. My master project was in fact an inverted architecture design- the inhuman space, something between art and the world of architecture. A grand sculptural object

with the twisted insides and a smooth, elegant finishing outside.

Now I’m standing on the crossroads.

Where to go next?

What is architecture anyway?

After graduating from Uni of Technology, for half a year working on a tiresome architectural project, I began to realize that architecture is quite an undefined idea. First I thought of my own definition, thinking of the immanent features of architecture. Then I’ve taken the different approach, trying to

find what architecture is not. By that I strived to find and define space which is not ‘humane’- not in the human scale, unpleasant, unsafe, ever- changing, and not solid. At this rate, I deconstructed the idea of architecture, building unpredictable and a bit hostile sculptural form.

The Master project for Uni of Technology was to design a new Architecture Dep. The result is a vast (24 486 sq. m of utility space!) project consisting of two interconnected buildings, housing lecture rooms, auditorium, exhibition halls, drawing and sculpting studios, and numerous offices for departments’ administration. The architecture of

the buildings was made elegant, modernist-clean and transparent. The main entrance halls were designed as open from above, so that the sunlight could flow through the glazed roof. At the top of the buildings there’s a green roof, designed as a experimental garden for different grass and small shrubs specimens.

Enjoying the pleasures and the entertainments offered by the world, after a time we completely lose ourselves. We lose the contact with reality, but first of all we lose our humanity, debasing ourselves.

The form of a green bottle has universal character, being a symbol not only of alcoholism, but all stimulants men use to “treat” oneself, and to pass away- obesity, sex, drugs, heavy partying, but

at the same time the “modern” addictions, like workaholism.

The act of cutting the bottles was a question- does a bottle, which as a matter of fact is a liquid container, which is cut into pieces, is a bottle any more? Is a man that in his degradation lies under a park bench in his own urine, is he a human any more?

The aim of the project was to think of two things that for some reason are sold together- like for instance pepper and salt, pencil and eraser, sunscreen and after-sunbath balm-and then to design a packaging for those two separate but linked objects. My proposal was the package for chilli peppers sold together with liquid chocolate, so that the user could dip the peppers

in the smooth and sweet sauce. Thus I designed two ‘bottles’ that stand in contrast with each other- one sleek, glossy and red, the other transparent and polygonal. The project was made from scratch in Rhino 3D design software.

Bristlecone is a ceiling-mounted lamp inspired by the fir cones, which tend to expand and open themselves as they spread their seeds. The movable scales of the lamp provide accurate control of the light stream, as the lamp could be remotely opened or closed. The light pouring out from the bristlecone create spectacular

shade effects on the walls and objects around.

Please note: the picture shown here is a photograph of a lamp prototype, not a computer render!

This vast project consist of 7 stages of apartment buildings, 3 stages of offices and a 4-star hotel- a building scale not seen in Polish architecture for 40 years. The central part of the composition is set 4 metres above the ground level, so that the car park situated beneath is actually on the ground level, which minimises the amount of soil that needs to be transported out of the lot. The heart of the project is the slender 16-storey apartment building, towering above the lavishly green park. Next to it, there is a small pavillion, designed as the cultural centre of the estate. The

elevated part of the lot is connected with the north-eastern park using long ramp, placed over an existing road. The project is complex- every single building has a complete architectural project, down to kitchen sinks, garage ventilation shafts and facade insulation.

The total designed area for housing is 72 000 sq.m, and for offices and services is 40 000 sq.m.

The design of a housing estate for 46 row houses. Architecture of the buildings was ispired by minimalistic Dutch urban style. As the facades of the houses were aimed to be free of unwanted detail, such as roof gutters and glass balustrade fixing components, unconventional details were especially designed for the purpose of the project.

As the result, the building look is expressive through its simplicity. The use of hand-shaped facade-bricks gave them warmth and plasticity.

The construction works to be started in the summer 2015.

On 18.04.-24.04.2013. I’ve been taking part in the International Student Workshop organized at Dom Tramwajarza (Tram-driver Culture House) at Jeżyce district in Poznań. The aim was to find an artistic answer to the topic: ‘5 o’clock’, which was about social manners, table rituals and clichés. The proposal of my team was a set of 6 tables arranged in a circle, thus creating sort of a ‘round table’. But

in our project, people were forced to sit with their backs at each other, with no eye-contact whatsoever. To maintain the artificial atmosphere of such ‘diplomat dinners’, we set burgers from a popular fast food on each plate. During the vernissage I played the role of a waiter, delivering oil-soaked, cold French fries on a glittering tray.
