The design of a housing estate for 46 row houses. Architecture of the buildings was ispired by minimalistic Dutch urban style. As the facades of the houses were aimed to be free of unwanted detail, such as roof gutters and glass balustrade fixing components, unconventional details were especially designed for the purpose of the project. As the result, the building look is expressive through its simplicity. The use of hand-shaped facade-bricks gave them warmth and plasticity.

The project was made as a result of the collaboration with CDF architekci design studio. The construction works to be started in the summer 2015.Developer website: www.koninko.com.pl.

This vast project consist of 7 stages of apartment buildings, 3 stages of offices and a 4-star hotel- a building scale not seen in Polish architecture for 40 years. The central part of the composition is set 4 metres above the ground level, so that the car park situated beneath is actually on the ground level, which minimises the amount of soil that needs to be transported out. The central part of the design is the slender 16-storey apartment building, towering above the lavishly green park. Next to it, there is a small pavillion, designed as the cultural centre of the estate. The elevated part of the lot is connected with the north-eastern park using long ramp, placed over an existing road. The project is complex- every single building has a complete architectural project, down to kitchen sinks, garage ventilation shafts and facade insulation.

The total designed area for housing is 72 000 sq.m, and for offices and services is 40 000 sq.m.

The project was made as a result of the collaboration with CDF architekci design studio.

New Department of Architecture was designed at the Warta riverside, close to the main campus of the University. The designed complex comprises of two buildings, four storeys each, linked together with a gangway overhanging the pedestrian route. Both wings are facing south, in correspondence with the rest of the old campus. Between the outstretched arms of the western A building there is a set of amphitheatrically-shaped stairs, to be used as a recreational site for students. Both buildings were designed with green roofs in order to create there a unique space for retirement and relax for students, with spectacular views on to the river on the west and the Malta lake on the east.

In both building A and B the entrances and lobbys are situated centrally, on the future axis between the University Lecture Centre and Malta Lake, and between the river and the lake. The lobbys are designed as grand, open through all floors, with the skylight letting the sun rays flood the space. In order not to make the long corridors depressing, the “relax annexes” were designed, letting in the sun and the air. In addition to this, there is a skylight above the open corridor space in building B.

This small auditorium was designed as a exemplary model, to show how the interiors of the building should be shaped like. The room is 60 sq m. big. The centrality of space is broken with the use of diagonal lines, creating elegant, but emphatic tensions in the room. The curvatures are to be made of plaster boards, fixed to the walls with aluminum frame. The ceiling was designed using dropped ceilings Ecophon Focus lp.

BACHELOR’S PROJECTTown house at Ostrówek Street 16, Poznań

The aim of my bachelor’s project was to design of a tenement house in poznań at 16 ostrówek street, very close to Poland oldest cathedral. Creating a building that would fit perfectly in a historical urban tissue of the surrounding area was essential. In order to give the future residents more sunlight and fresh air, I designed a patio at the southern mouth of the lot. I shaped the patio walls of the building in a way that they’re sloping inwards, and introduced long flower pots on their edges.

I designed a café at the ground floor, the first floor was made for the open space office, and the rest of the building was designed as a housing unit. Every single flat has a unique floor plan, with the last story divided between two double- floored apartments with well-lit studios for artists. I designed the automated underground car park with the entrance at the south side of the building.

The museum of technology was designed on a lot placed in the former harbour in Gdańsk, the very same place that has seen the workers strikes in 1980s and Lech Wałęsa famous jump. The entrance to the museum leads from a triangular square, roofed by plexiglass, with dynamic sculpture in its centre. The other buildings on a lot are left to be designed as a cultural centre and home for creative industry. Museum is divided into three distinct functional areas. The western side of the building houses the main museum display, in the middle there are temporary exhibitions, and the eastern side there are offices and administration. The main hall is shaped as an open gallery, with a wide skylight above, supported by steel trusses.

A designer’s furniture store project designed on a given 20x10 m rectangular plan. The directions were to design a small cafe interconnected with a shop, remembering about the space for the employees, but the aim was to maximize shop exhibition area. Making a visual axis from the entrance toward bar, together with dramatic game of shadows urges customers to get into the world inside the shop.

The aim of the project was to think of two things that for some reason are sold toge-ther- like for instance pepper and salt, pencil and eraser, sunscreen and after-sun-bath balm-and then to design a packaging for those two separate but linked objects. My proposal was the package for chilli peppers sold together with liquid chocolate, so that the user could dip the peppers in the smooth and sweet sauce. Thus I designed two ‘bottles’ that stand in contrast with each other- one sleek, glossy and red, the other transparent and polygonal. The project was made from scratch in Rhino 3D design software.

Bristlecone is a ceiling-mounted lamp inspired by the fir cones, which tend to expand and open themselves as they spread their seeds. The movable scales of the lamp provide accurate control of the light stream, as the lamp could be remotely opened or closed. The light pouring out from the bristlecone create spectacular shade effects on the walls and objects around.

Please note: the picture shown here is a photograph of a lamp prototype, not a computer render! .

BRISTLECONE LAMP

The work that has become my Master Degree Project at the University of Art in Poznan is a result of a spatial experiment- my personal search for the definition of architecture. In order to construct it, through the studies of theoretical thought of great architects of the past, I started to search for the negation of architecture- a reversed space, an anti-place, dehumanized, unstable, and changeable. The resulting work is a crystallized vision of such no-space- an unpleasant, shivering, even a bit hostile fragment of such space.

Enjoying the pleasures and the entertainments offered by the world, after a time we completely lose ourselves. We lose the contact with reality, but first of all we lose our humanity, debasing ourselves.

The form of a green bottle has universal character, being a symbol not only of alcoholism, but all stimulants men use to “treat” oneself, and to pass away- obesity, sex, drugs, heavy partying, but at the same time the “modern” addictions, like workaholism.

The act of cutting the bottles was a question- does a bottle, which as a matter of fact is a liquid conta-iner, which is cut into pieces, is a bottle any more? Is a man that in his degradation lies under a park bench in his own urine, is he a human any more?

On 18.04.-24.04.2013. I’ve been taking part in the International Student Workshop organized at Dom Tramwajarza (Tram-driver Culture House) at Jeżyce district in Poznań. The aim was to find an artistic answer to the topic: ‘5 o’clock’, which was about social manners, table rituals and clichés. The proposal of my team was a set of 6 tables arranged in a circle, thus creating sort of a ‘round table’. But in our project, people were forced to sit with their backs at each other, with no eye-contact whatsoever. To maintain the artificial atmosphere of such ‘diplomat dinners’, we set burgers from a popular fast food on each plate. During the vernissage I played the role of a waiter, delivering oil-soaked, cold French fries on a glittering tray.

ACTUALLY, WE’RE ALL ALONE ANYWAY..

“Actually we’re all alone anyway…Doesn’t matter how many friends we have. What we will see in life. Where will we go. Doesn’t matter how much our partner loves us. We live and we die alone- and the whole life w live just through our own eyes. (…)We’re all alone anyway.”

Excerpt from the performace

Solitude. Cause people don’t REALLY care, neither for you, nor for your life.

The artistic performance, which was in fact a monologue, a loud quasi-confession or a declaration in which I ponder on the fact on my personal feelings about loneliness and solitude. Standing bare-footed against a wall.

The action was performed at the opening of the “5 o’clock” exhibition, held on 24.04.2014. at Dom Tramwajarza in Jeżyce district of Poznań.

The objective of the course was to design a three dimensionsal sculptural form that could serve both as a light source as well as stand-alone scupture. The randomized, lace-like structure of the lamp was inspired by the organic form of the coral reef and the seashells.
