School News Recycling supports SJCS Curb AppealSJCS promotes recycling in several ways. These earnings support SJCS' Curb Appeal Fund.

Recycle4Fundraising  This program gives cash rewards in exchange for used printer cartridges, small electronics (laptops, MP3 Players, GPS devices, digital cameras).  Recycle 4 Fundraising is committed to the Zero Landfill Initiative and has a strong commitment to the environment. Bring in your boxes of cartridges (no toner tanks please) and electronics to the office.  Mark each package with you student's class-room.

Wireless Alliance is a cell phone recycling company that collects and recycles cellular equipment.  All equipment is repurposed in a euro waste, environmentally-conscious manner.  Since 2001, the Wire-less Alliance has reclaimed over 500 tons of wireless equipment from landfills, con-tributing a cleaner and sager environment. Bring in all cell phones, chargers, batteries and accessories to our school office.  Place in the box at the front office.

Textile Recycling Gather up your old clothes and shoes and drop them off at the Textile Recycling Bin on campus.  You can find the large green bin near the elemen-tary pick-up area off the parking lot, pro-viding you an easy way to get rid of the clothing, linens, or stuffed animals that are just eating up space in your closets, draw-ers, and garages.  Items should be placed in a plastic bag before they are inserted into the bin.

Your old clothes will be recycled as second-hand clothing in our community, shipped abroad to third world nations in desperate need, or recycled into fiber for new cloth.  SJCS also benefits from your efforts as we receive money from 7G Re-cycling each time they come to empty the bin. For more information on textile recy-cling, you can visit www.7grecycling.com.

Sports UpdatesBoys SoccerLGCS 2 SJCS 4The Tigers opened their season strong with a win over a good LGCS team. The scoring was all Isaiah up front. He did have a lot of support and was set up by some good passes from Josh, and Dylan. The defense did a great job of making it hard for the other team to score. Isaac played like he was possessed by a tasmanian devil. He only got scored on because of two hand balls near the top of the box.

SJCS 7 CCS 3The Tigers looked sharp again in their game against Campbell Christian. This time the scoring was spread out along Ryan, Josh, Dylan,Ben, Isaiah, Nico, and even Mike M. scored finally. We did have some lapses on defense and got scored on too many times. I don’t think that will be a problem going forward. I liked the spacing and teamwork from the Tigers in this game.

Girls VolleyballThe SJCS Girls Volleyball had a great start to the season last week with a close game against Los Gatos Christian.

Come support our two home games this week. See the calendar for times and loca-tions.
