From the Principal Thank you - to the many families who joined us to celebrate our first Youth Mass of the year at St Joseph’s Cathedral on Saturday evening. It was a lovely Eucharistic Celebration and our children did a superb job participating in the Mass. Think Twice ‘I tell my children and I try to do it myself: “Think twice about what you are doing and going to do. You can even use it in learning people’s names”.’ So said a neighbour while chatting recently. They are wise words, words to live by. Children can drift through situations, not noticing what is happening and then explode, overt react or get into trouble when things move beyond their control. But a little thought along the way, a little mindfulness can make their lives and ours a richer, better experience. Jesus tried to provoke such thoughtfulness. His whole way of teaching wasn’t a series of straightforward, black and white rules. Rather his parables, his short sayings, some of which seem to contradict each other, are meant to challenge us to ask ourselves, ‘What does God want me to be, to do in this situation?’ We need to use thought and prayer to discern what to do in changing circumstances. Our brains are not there just to keep out ears apart. Along with our heart, we are meant to use this precious gift so that we can live as humanly as possible in the varying events of life. Loving Father, send us your Spirit that we may know how to apply the teachings of Jesus to our lives. Filled with his Spirit may we have loving thoughts and wise hearts. We ask this in his name, confident that you will hear us. Sr Kym Harris osb Newsletter 20/2017 21 June 2017

Thank you - to the many families who joined us to celebrate our first Youth Mass of the year at St Joseph’s Cathedral on Saturday evening. It was a lovely Eucharistic Celebration and our children did a superb job participating in the Mass.

Think Twice

‘I tell my children and I try to do it myself: “Think twice about what you are doing and going to do.

Prayer Corner - “Our many trials have done us great good and serve to strengthen us." – Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop (1842 -1909)

God Moments

Jesus uses us as his special agents to get his message across

to people. Jesus is constantly talking to us through people

in our lives each day, but we are constantly missing his messages as

we aren’t switched on.

Look around you, there are constant acts of goodness that go unnoticed in your home, classroom,

playground and on your weekends.

Prayer Assembly with Year 6 Please join Mr Robertson with Year 6 for Assembly on ‘Making Jesus Real’. Assembly will be held in the

Hall at 8.35am this Friday.

Training – No training for Netball or Rugby League this week.

Outside School Hours Care - As the Vacation Care period is approaching quickly we have some reminders to ensure your children have the best experience here at OSHC. We have three lunches at OSHC (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea) please ensure your child arrives with a packed lunch to last them all three of these breaks unless otherwise stated on the program. The children will have the option to put their lunches into the cold room upon arrival. At lunch times we are able to provide bowls, plates, spoons, cups and forks if the children would like one of these items although unfortunately, our policies and procedures state that we are unable to cook/heat food up for the children (e.g. noodles, left overs from dinner the night before).

Please ensure that if you require Vacation Care for your children, you have seen the OSHC staff to book them in as we are currently finalising staffing to cater to the number of children attending as well as finalising incursion/excursion bookings and resources for the vacation care period Congratulations to Spencer (Year 6) who will be on stage in RMU’s Production of Scrooge: The

Musical. Break a leg also to Hayley Hutchinson (Year 3 teacher) and Brodie (Yr 5) who is helping out

backstage. Come along and see this wonderful local production.
