October is now four weeks away. If we prepare in September, we will be fully stocked to serve those in our community! Please begin considering how your family can assist others in need this year — by serving, supplying staple food items, or through financial support. Additional contributions in September will help us to meet the financial needs of the Cupboard in October. Be watching for facts throughout September about the Cupboard. Talk with your family… Teach your children the importance of helping those in need. DID YOU KNOW? The Cupboard receives funding from various churches in the area, donations from businesses and community organizations, and from many individuals. Vital support is also provided by a variety of schools, clubs, and scouting organizations that conduct drives for food and other items. In 2014, the Cupboard served 3,371 families or 11,015 individuals over the course of the year. The vast majority of clients served were returning clients. And 198 new families accessed the Cupboard in 2014. Slightly more than half (54%) of the individuals benefitting from food distribution were adults; 31% were children; 15% were seniors (60+) The Cupboard is located in Hurricane, at 2843 Virginia Avenue adjacent to the back parking lot of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church.
