Bikeability for our younger pupils has been a huge success and I look forward to seeing them when they are older learning to safely ride out on the roads around Penkhull. I have been hugely impressed by the uptake of homework activities across the school: completing homework activities gives you an idea of the expectations for your children and it really helps reinforce learning that takes place in the classroom. We expect all of our children to complete their homework on a weekly basis and I am especially pleased with 2SS, 2LP, 1SR and 6HR where we saw 100% uptake of the tasks set for them. Well done. Dear Parents/Carers

It’s been a great end to the week seeing a number of our Year 1 pupils cycling independently around our playground in the sunshine.

Well done.

Parking Issues

We continue to be concerned about the parking issues that are being experienced at the beginning and end of each school day. Your feedback on parental questionnaires and on the Facebook page are much

appreciated in giving us this information.

This term our School Council and Eco Council are going to be working on projects to promote safe parking and driving.

The ongoing issues have been discussed many times with the Governing Board and actions have been taken previously. However, this week it was decided that it is time to pass all concerns and complaints

directly to the local MP, Gareth Snell. Therefore can we kindly ask that you send your experiences, concerns and complaints to the contact details below. We want to work together for a resolution that

keeps our children and families safe.

Thank you for your support with this campaign, we really want to bombard Gareth and by sending messages to him we could prevent a tragic accident occurring. Please help us out!

PTFA News

Tuesday 10th October at 6.30pm ‘Prosecco and Cake’ event.

Everyone is welcome and there will be a crèche available on the night.

Congratulations to Viktoria Borislavova’s mum who won the competition for completing the PTFA questionnaire regarding the A.G.M. Her choice of prize is wine, chocolates or a basket of fruit.

As we’re sure you are all aware, Stoke-on-Trent has been shortlisted for the UK City of Culture 2021.

We love Stoke-on-Trent and believe that becoming City of Culture will bring huge benefits not just to the area, but to you. YOU - the people who live and work here, YOU - the businesses

that are thriving here and YOU - the children, our future generation.

So as a way of backing the sot2021 bid, getting involved in this exciting opportunity and con-tributing to some of the fantastic activities and events as part of the bid programme, Living Streets and Stoke-on-Trent City Council would like to encourage all schools, staff, parents and pupils to tell us what they love about their walk to school in North Staffordshire.

If we’re successful, the benefits to the city would be enormous. We’ll see new jobs, more visitors from all over the world, who will boost our economy; international cultural events that will make you stop in your tracks, and improved educational opportunities for our children.

Using social media from the 16th to the 20th October, we’d like you to take and share your photos or videos of the best bits of your walk to school. Make sure you give a brief description of where you are and what you like about it and send them to the sot2021 team and Living Streets.

Message us through…

Twitter: @sot2021 @livingstreets using #walktoschool #sot2021

Instagram: @sot2021 @livingstreets

Living Streets will be re-tweeting and liking all of the best pictures, their favourite receiving a SoT 2021 Living Streets goody bag.
