The psychosocial care of the child and his/her family is not an accessory aspect in the treatment of the hospitalized child, but rather an essential element of the process of care. It is now widely demonstrated that creativity and play are the means by which it is possible to structure a relationship with the outside world, express and communicate feelings, control situations, reverse roles, express aggression, and actively reenact that which the child was required to experience passively. During hospitalization, being able to channel the fantasies, fears and needs of the child, means being able to support the whole family, and health workers themselves, in the process of comprehensive care.
