The city of Pescara, contemporary image of the newest opening to
the Adriatic sea, will host the workshop Ò The dynamics of European
RegionalismÓ , on July 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
The main European regional associations CALRE (Conference of
European Regional Legislative Assemblies), AEBR (Association of
European Border Regions), REGLEG (Conference of European Regions
with legislative powers), CRPM (Conference of Peripheral Maritime
Regions) and AER (Assembly of European Regions), together with the
Committee of Regions will come together to exchange their
experiences and remarks, in order to promote an effective
participation of European regions in the decision-making process
within the EU.
The workshop represents a useful occasion to deepen some issues
of great interest for European regions, such as strengthening the
Regional democracy and its institutions, which is a necessary
condition for a governmental system closer to the citizen.
Therefore, cooperation and subsidiarity become the principles,
which move and consolidate the European Union, its networks and
civil society.
Furthermore, after the recent migratory wave from North Africa,
a specific session of works will be dedicated to the analysis of
the phenomenon and the possible scenarios it could open in the
Mediterranean area, and on the possible repercussions it could
entail on border regions.
My Presidency of CALRE is an important occasion for my Region,
to strengthen its regionalism and become the linchpin of a European
network, closer and closer to its citizens. ThatÕ s why your
presence is really important for me.
We will meet at AURUM, an oasis of the noblest art nouveau that
inspired the great Italian poet Gabriele DÕAnnunzio, in order to
live an experience of dialogue and reflection, where participation
and integration mark the beginning of a new dimension of social and
cultural development.

From the airport: take the slip road Pescara-Chieti and then
follow it up to Piazza della Marina. Go towards via Bardet and go
