How would anyone begin listing and thanking the huge team of parishioners and friends who helped make last Sunday’s Corpus Christi such a wonderful event?! We all know the many ‘directors’ of the various departments (I won’t start mentioning names as I KNOW I will forget someone and….) and we would have witnessed the creative hands of others with the beautiful altars, the grunt work of those carrying the canopy and sound system (those really were real speakers!!!), the flower petal pluckers and flower petal distributors, the singers, musicians, program distributors, route organizers

and directors, policemen, servers, mother nature, photographers, krakowianki, pre and post event clean up crews, candle maintenance crew, dog whisperers, quiet and respectful residents…..the list is endless. It took MANY people, working together for God, to make this happen. May God bless each one of them. It was great to see the care taken by the young parents who brought their children into the tradition. We saw a group of First Communicants as well as an army of children dressed in Polish folk costumes. We saw servers so young their cassocks were dragging on the ground as they negotiated the strong winds blowing them along the procession route. Like wise we saw the trolley carrying a group of young parishioners whose bodies had aged a bit. The living monstrances on lolly never missed a beat and surely had seen many of these processions over their lifetimes. They probably saw marching bands and bigger crowds and parish societies and clubs all lined up neatly. Certain songs may have brought tears to their eyes as they recalled how many times they sang the same words in their youth. Jesus marched through these streets in Slavic village well over a hundred times in the monstrance held by one of our many priests. As pointed out by Fr. Eric, Jesus marches out of our church each day as we have received Him in the Eucha-rist. He’s seen it all, heard it all and ready for anything. He knows we all try to be good even if we don’t always succeed. That’s a real friend for you...someone who never gives up on you. A friend like that is a treasure..and we have that treasure before us and in us whenever we want….if we want. You know He wants to be your friend. David Krakowski

Wakacje bez Boga? Wakacje to czas odpoczynku – od zimna, szarości… W letnie miesiące za wszelką cenę chcemy naładować się pozytywną

energią i nabrać dystansu do otaczającego nas świata. Staramy się nie myśleć o tym, co nas niepokoi i przeraża. Latem nasze życie staje się jakby łatwiejsze…

I dzieje się tak, jak w znanym wszystkim przysłowiu Jak trwoga, to do Boga. Bóg na troski i kłopoty. Złe oceny w szkole, niezdany egzamin. Bóg na rodzinne kłótnie, bezwzględnego szefa, nieszczęśliwą miłość. Bóg na własne lęki i kłopoty. Kiedy boli i brak nadziei, a życie staje się niepojęte i zagmatwane. Gdy trudno związać koniec z końcem i trzeba solidnie się nagłowić, żeby starczyło do pierwszego. Wtedy jesteśmy blisko Niego, jak najbliżej. Bo On jest przecież źródłem miłości największej, niewyczerpanej, bez dna. Wielokrotnie powtarzamy Jego słowa - proście, a będzie wam dane, szukajcie, a znajdziecie; kołaczcie, a otworzą wam. Więc prosimy, szepczemy słowa modlitw i czekamy na małe i większe cuda w naszym życiu.

A jednak często o Nim zapominamy. Zwłaszcza wtedy, kiedy jesteśmy szczęśliwi i wydaje nam się, że nic tego nie może zmienić… Teraz to już damy radę sami, nie potrzebujemy nikogo i niczego. Chcemy samodzielnie stawić czoło rzeczywistości albo po prostu nie dostrzegamy Tego, dzięki któremu oddychamy, chodzimy, kochamy…

Latem jeszcze łatwiej spychamy Boga na dalszy plan. Czujemy się wolni, szczęśliwi, radośni. I po co nam jakieś ograniczenia, przykazania, obowiązki? Życie jest przecież po to, żeby z niego korzystać i brać pełnymi garściami. A Kościół? Jest dla babć i dziadków, którzy są bliżej tej drugiej strony. Teraz w końcu mamy czas na wczasy, dobrą książkę, film, bieganie po sklepach czy plotkowanie. Wreszcie możemy wyjechać, zostawić sprawy codzienności. A Bóg? Przecież poczeka…

I On rzeczywiście czeka… Na każdego - na Ciebie i na mnie… Na tych leniwych i spóźnionych… Na tych zagubionych, którym wydaje się, że Go nie potrzebują, a nawet na tych, którzy nie wierzą w Jego istnienie. Czeka cierpliwie – wszędzie… W przydrożnej kapliczce, którą mijamy podczas rowerowej wycieczki, w małym wiejskim Kościółku na rozstaju dróg, w przyrodzie, którą tak się zachwycamy, zapominając, że jest odbiciem Boga…

Dlaczego, więc o Nim zapominamy? Bo Bóg nie jest medialny. Nie widać go na przydrożnych bilbordach, nie przyciąga kolorowym blichtrem i krzykiem, nie składa fantastycznych obietnic bez pokrycia… Jest cichy… Po prostu jest. Tak wielki, że n ie potrzebuje obwieszczania tego światu. Tak wspaniałomyślny, że obdarzył nas wolną wolą. Tak doskonały, że chce nam dać coś więcej niż tylko ziemskie bytowanie - życie wieczne. Czy można na czas wakacji zapomnieć o przyjacielu? Bo zbyteczny, wymagający, trochę staroświecki, niemodny? Bo nie pasuje do krzykliwej współczesności, w której prawdziwe autorytety zastępuje się plastikowymi wytworami kultury? Można? A potem wrócić, gdy pojawią się troski i trudniej będzie odnaleźć się w szarej rzeczywistości? On przygarnie, zrozumie i będzie. Jak zawsze. Tak często robimy. I czasem nawet nie żałujemy. Powroty są przecież naturalne...

Rachunek sumienia jest prosty: Jak daleko odszedłeś od prostego kubka z jednym uchem od starego stołu ze zwykłą ceratą od wzruszenia nie na niby od sensu od podziwu nad światem od tego co nagie a nie rozebrane od tego co wielkie nie tylko z daleka ale i z bliska od tajemnicy nie wykładanej na talerz od matki która patrzyła w oczy żebyś nie kłamał od pacierza od Polski z raną ty stary koniu /Ks. Jan Twardowski/

Zbyt często odchodzimy… W wakacje samotny Chrystus rozwieszony na drzewie krzyża oczekuje modlitwy czy choćby tylko krótkiego spotkania. On przecież nie odbierze nam wolności, nie ograniczy naszego beztroskiego czasu, nie zabroni spotkania z przyjaciółmi. Po prostu będzie. Jak zawsze cicho, obok, blisko. Niczego nam nie narzuci i nie nakaże. Uszanuje naszą wolną wolę. Nawet jeśli będziemy chcieli zejść z Jego drogi, nie postawi przed nami archanioła z ognistym mieczem – da nam wybór…

Życzę wszystkim by te wakacje nie były tylko czasem zapomnienia o tym, co najważniejsze, ale by te chwile jeszcze bardziej umocniły naszą więź z Bogiem. Bądźmy zatem z Chrystusem w ten rozleniwiony czas. Bądźmy z Nim nie tylko jako z Panem, Ojcem, ale przede wszystkim prawdziwym Przyjacielem, który nigdy nas nie zdradzi, nie zapomni, nie zostawi. Trwajmy przy Jezusie nie tylko od święta. Nie róbmy z Niego Boga tylko od zmartwień, ale dajmy sobie szansę, kochając Go przez wszystkie dni w roku, szczególnie w ten wakacyjny czas.

MASS BOOK OPEN FOR 2014

The parish office will be accepting Mass intentions for 2014. The office staff are happy to encourage and accom-modate Mass intentions as they come in. You can arrange for Masses either by coming in to the parish office between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM Monday through Friday, or you can mail in your intentions and donations. If the date you re-quest is already taken we will try to find the closest date to the one you request. When you make the request, please let us know if it is for someone who is deceased, or if this is a “special intention.” Finally, since so many people request Sunday Mass intentions, please try to limit your request for Sunday Masses to three, although weekday Masses are eas-ier to schedule.

KSIĄŻKA Z INTENCJAMI MSZALNYM NA ROK 2014

Biuro parafialne rozpoczęło przyjmowanie intencji mszalnych na rok 2014. Pracujący w biurze przyjmują intencje mszalne w kolejności ich zamawiania. Mszę św. można zamówić albo przychodząc osobiście do biura w godzinach od 8:00 rano do 2:00 popołudniu od poniedziałku do piątku, lub też wysyłając informację o intencji wraz z czekem na adres parafii. Jeśli data wskazana w liście jest już zajęta, będziemy starać się zapisać ją w najbliższym wolnym terminie. Jeśli Msza św. jest za zmarłych, proszę podać imiona (imię); jeśli za żywych, proszę to zaznaczyć również. Może być też „w intencji ofiarodawcy” lub „w Bogu wiadomej intencji”. Msze św. w ciągu tygodnia są tak samo ważne jak te w niedziele, dlatego zachęcamy do zamawiania Mszy św. w dni powszednie. Będzie na pewno łatwiej znaleźć wolną datę.

FESTIVAL ON OUR MINDS Yes, it never ends! Now that the Four Eagle and Corpus Christi are almost behind us, we must turn our thoughts to the October Polish Fes-tival. This year the event takes place October 4, 5 and 6th in the Social Center on Baxter Avenue. This Tuesday, June 11th, we will have a refresher meeting for those involved with the festival (on various committees etc…) so we can get the ball rolling and begin our advertising, finalize some details and make it easier on all of us come October. The meeting will take place in the rectory. If you have notes from our previous meeting, please bring them. The meeting will begin promptly at 7 PM and last about an hour or an hour and a half tops. We already reviewed what worked and what didn’t. Now we will begin to move forward with a few changes and ideas. If everyone lends a hand it will happen. This is our parish’s major fund-raiser...we need your help. The festival is always up for new ideas. If we can accommodate, we will be happy to give them a try. All it takes is the hands and feet to sup-port and execute the new ideas! Let’s think positive and give it our best! Hope to see you THIS Tuesday!!
