City Employees Offer a Cool Helping Hand It didn’t take long after the call

for help for City of Seguin employees to step up to the pate.

In late June, the Seguin Fire De-partment ran out of donations for its an-nual fan drive. On the same day the word went out, Utility Billing Supervisor Leann Wilkerson and Fire/EMS Officer Supervi-sion Liz Arambula started an e-mail chain soliciting donations from City of Seguin employees. Within days, more than $500 in donations was collected!

“Thank you very much,” Fire/EMS Chief Dale Skinner said. “These donations should allow us to buy enough fans to get through July.”

The annual drive pro-vides fans to households with-out air conditioning.

“Not having air conditioning is unimaginable for a lot of us, especially in the middle of these hot Texas sum-mers," Chief Skinner continued. “For many families, the fans we provide through this program are their only source of relief from the heat.”

Donations of fans or money may be made at the Municipal Court/Fire Administration building located at 660 South State Highway 46.

When available, fans may be picked up at the Municipal Court/Fire Administration building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A picture ID and proof of residency is required. Limit one fan per household. For additional information, con-tact Seguin Fire/EMS at 401-2310.

Thank you to all the volun-

teers who made the 2014

Cinderella Ball another

great success!

The Drug Enforcement Ad-

ministration sponsors the award to

highlight the importance of law en-

forcement and prevention working

together to make communities safe

and drug-free.

“If there is an event that

benefits the young people of Seguin,

Chief Kelso will be there and be in-

volved,” Seguin Mayor Don Keil said.

“He can be seen standing in the cold,

collecting toys and money for Blue

Santa, attending the D.A.R.E. Cinder-

ella Ball with his daughter and pass-

ing out candy at the D.A.R.E. Hallow-

een Safe House. As a loving father

who is active in his daughters’ lives,

Chief Kelso is highly motivated to

make sure that our kids grow up in

an environment that is safe and drug-

free.”

Chief Kelso was presented

the award July 8 at the 27th D.A.R.E.

America International Training Con-

ference in Grapevine, Texas.

It’s All About the Kids A big thank you goes out to the to the City of Se-guin departments and employees who gave facility tours to Seguin High School stu-dents as part of Technical Career Job Shadowing Day!
