F ULL M OON The Sacrum Skull Polarity Master Class This class explores the dynamic balance between the two poles of the spine, the sacrum and the occiput. The harmonic alignment between the sacrum and skull is essential to accessing the subtle body. Many yoga poses and vinyasa itself serve to balance the motion between the sacrum and occiput and yoga techniques such as mula and uddiyana bandha are critical to their balance. FRIDAY 2:00pm - 5:00pm MASTER CLASS In this class we look at the anatomical structures involved in the sacrum-skull polarity and study the reciprocal tension between the two in poses such as downward dog, wheel and savasana. We will see how yoga postures benefit the fluid dynamics within the spine, spinal cord and inter- vertebral discs. Progression on the path of yoga involves a slow journey from outer to inner and from coarse to subtle. Connection to the subtle body suggests not simply an intellectual knowing but an embodied, cellular knowing. This intensive aims to embody wisdom by engaging the subtlety and power of asana training. In a process that requires sensitivity and inner listening, we explore the pathways of the muscle, bones and nerves in order to bring greater wakefulness to the body-mind connection. In this introduction to the weekend, we connect to the inner most biorhythms involving pulse, breath and weight of bone. Underlying our teaching is that we do not do poses for the sake of the pose, but for the quality of attention within the pose. Through dharma study, guided meditation, somatic awareness, yoga postures and Zen Motion, this is a transformational weekend of practice and study. In this intensive we will investigate poems of awakening from the Taoist and Zen traditions.
