Learning at OSHC!
Your children’s learning at OSHC is based on BELONGING, BEING & BECOMING The Early Years Framework and
MY TIME, OUR PLACE Framework for School Aged Care in Australia.
For more info:https://www.education.gov.au/early-years-learning-framework-0 https://www.education.gov.au/my-time-our-place
WHAT IS THE FRAMEWORK?
The Framework aims to extend and enrich children’s
wellbeing and development. It acknowledges that
children need a place to engage in a range of play
and leisure experiences that allow them to feel
happy, safe and relaxed. It also recognises that they
need time to interact with friends, practice social
skills, solve problems, try new activities and learn life
skills.
Children’s learning in care settings compliments their
learning at home and at school or preschool
PLAY IS LEARNING
Play is very important for children. Through play
babies and young children explore and learn to
understand the world around them as they come to
communicate, discover, imagine and create.
When children play they are showing what they have
learned and what they are trying to understand. This
is why play is one of the foundations of the Early
Years Learning Framework.
By using this Framework educators will guide your
child’s play by carefully designing learning activities
and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning
environments.
TIME AND PLACE
This is a vital time and place for children
to relax, make friends, engage in
personal growth and develop skills and
attitudes for healthy living. By using the
framework Educators provide an
environments that is welcoming for
children and families. We create vibrant
and flexible spaces that are responsive to
the welfare and abilities of all children.
The vision is for all children to feel safe
and have enjoyable experiences. We
provide play and leisure-based
experiences that are engaging and
building foundations for life-long learning.
We view children as active participants
and decision makers. They are given
choice, responsibility and through this
they learn to make connection between
actions and consequences. Activities are
selected as that are meaningful to the
children. Educators and children respect
and trust each other, and share decision
making about opportunities to support
children’s needs and interests.
WORKING TOGETHER
Children thrive when families,
educators and wider community work
together in partnership to support
children’s wellbeing and learning.
Within this partnership everyone
values each other’s contributions and
engages in shared decision making.
RELATIONSHIPS ARE KEY
It is well known that children learn best when they have
secure relationships with caring adults. When children from a
very early age develop trusting relationships they feel more
confident and able to explore and learn.
When children feel emotionally secure they learn through
play to develop the skills and understandings they need to
interact positively with others and gradually learn to take
responsibility
BELONGING, BEING, BECOMING
Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel they belong because of the relationships they
have with their family, community, culture and place.
Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time in life and children need time to just ‘be’—
time to play, try new things and have fun.
Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form
their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become.

Nature Play!
Children learn to appreciate
nature. It helps children to
regulate emotions and
provides sensory play
opportunities
Vacation Care
So many different activities and perfect weather to enjoy inside
and outdoor games. We had Slip’n’slide fun, went swimming,
climbed and jumped on inflatables, meet a variety of animals,
learnt to rollerskate, teamed up for Laser Tag, tie dyed pillowcases,
played a lot of Just dance on the Wii and had lots of fun!
Our Values
During Term 1 we will be focussing on the School Values
Gym Floor Renovation!
During January we were unable to access the gym, due to the floor being ripped up and
replaced! We will return to using the gym in Week 3
First there was lots of machines that came in and ripped up the old floor. The old floor was
put into big bins. Next they painted all the cracks on the floor, and put a coating on the
floor.
Then they laid the nice new blue floor.
Ingle Farm Primary School is a Seesaw school. This includes OSHC.
Seesaw is a valuable tool that allows you to share in celebrating your
child’s achievements. Children are able to share photos, videos, stories
of their work that you will be able to see and contribute to from a phone
or tablet. Seesaw is also a powerful communication tool designed to
inform you of important information, events and update.
Your child’s teacher can provide you with a code to quickly get you
started. When you are set up with the class, you will be added to the
OSHC group.
Seesaw is a free app and is compatible with most devices.
Seesaw is a safe and inclusive internet based program but we need your
permission to add your child’s photos, videos and work to Seesaw.
Please ensure you have completed consent forms when enrolling. If you
are not sure, or haven’t completed one, please let one of the OSHC team
know.
