LIVING HISTORY- Are your kids interested in history? Do they like to learn about people andevents of the past? Do they like to pretend to be those people or live in that time period? Then themulti-county 4-H Living History program might be for your kids. This is an excellent program forhome school youth or public schooled children, who are ages seven and older, to explore theirheritage, community, and expand their knowledge of local history. The program is a four part serieswhere youth will 1) explore living history, 2) choose a person or time period they are interested in,3) research and learn about that person or era, and 4) participate in a Living History Fair whereyouth will share what they have learned with others. Cornell Cooperative Extensions 4-H YouthDevelopment program will be facilitating this 4 part series starting on Tuesday, January 8, at6:30pm at the Hudson Falls Public Library (tentative). TRAINING PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN FOR 2013!

Applications are being accepted for the training that willbegin in January 2013. The program is open to anyone whohas an interest in expanding their gardening experience andknowledge. Learn how you can improve your own gardens andlandscapes. Learn scientifically-based gardening information ina relaxed and supportive atmosphere. It is a great way to learneven more by sharing information with fellow-Master Gardenersduring the training, and following the training, by participatingin community-based horticultural programs, educational projectsand helping people in the community with their gardeningquestions. The Master Gardener Training Program is packedwith information provided by the many scientists, educators,

and garden experts associated with Cornell University. SARATOGA NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK closed itsdriving tour road for the winter on Monday, December 3. Whilethe tour road closes for the season, the Park Visitor Center is openevery day from 9:00am to 5:00pm, except for Thanksgiving,Christmas, and New Years Days. eal the community by fulfilling wishes for area children and seniors in need, supporting fellowtaff members and, this year, reaching out to victims of Hurricane Sandy. Following are just somexamples of hospital employees recent generosity:Serving as Santa for Seniors: Hospital staffrovided gifts for more than 100 seniors served by Home Instead Senior Cares Be a Santa to aenior program. Seniors names and gift requests are written on paper ornaments, which are hungn a tree in the hospital. Within an hour, the tree was bareand hospital employees were askingor more names. Filling Empty Stockings: The hospital once again participated in the Saratoga

County Childrens Committee Empty Stockings program. Staff adopted 45 area children and

rovided every item on their wish lists. Stocking Pantry Shelves: The hospitals Public Safetyeam held a food drive to benefit local pantries, donating seven large cartons filled with non-erishable items. Benefiting Catholic Charities: A tree decorated by employees on the hospitals
