This year’s Annual Celebration will feature the reveal of the community branding project!
The Branding Project, which started in April 2015, is a community-wide effort organized by the Chamber to share Columbus’s story with the world. Attendees at this event will be the very first to see this unique project brought to life. The evening will showcase some of Columbus’s best attributes and will include an optional tour of the brand-new high school.
Also at the celebration, we will honor members who have reached significant anniversaries in their years of continuous membership.

We are excited to welcome our new board members with the beginning of the new fiscal year on April 1st!
The Chamber will be led by incoming Board Chair Steve Line of Columbus Physical Therapy. Steve led the annual Planning Session in March to set the group’s plan of work for the next 12 months.
The Chamber Board for 2017-2018 includes:
Exec Committee members: Dennis Grennan (HDR); Bill Flint (First National Bank); Chris Langan (BD Construction); Lisa Kaslon (University of Nebraska); Vanessa Oceguera (Keep Columbus Beautiful); Ben Hellbusch (DuoLift Mfg.) and Kurt Shevlin (Servicemaster by Shevlin). New Board members: Ken Curry (NPPD); Dr. Randy Hinze (Hinze Chiropractic); Dr. Luke Lemke (Columbus Medical Center); and Sarah Pillen (Pillen Family Farms). Completing their term on the board are: Chad Dyhrkopp (Hy-Vee); Pat Pope (NPPD); Joe Steffensmeier (Gene Steffy Ford); and Dianne Wall (Sundown Motel). The Chamber would like to extend our appreciation to this group of board members for their dedication to the Chamber and community!
NEW BOARD MEMBERS TAKE OFFICE Last Chance to Attend!
Thanks to the efforts of the current Leadership Columbus class, we are excited to announce the creation of Youth Leadership Columbus. This program is designed to recognize, educate and empower future leaders and will be open to current sophomores at CHS, Scotus and Lakeview High School. Participants will be provided with tours, roundtable discussions and speakers that can inspire and train the next generation of leaders in Columbus. There is no cost to participate in the program thanks to a grant from Columbus
Area Future Fund. Participants will also be eligible for a $300 scholarship to use for classes at CCC during their senior year. Applications are now being accepted for the Inaugural Class and are due by May 1st to the Chamber office. Get all the details and application at thecolumbuspage.com.

The 2017 Planning Session put forward seven Strategic Priorities for the Board’s approval, all were adopted at the March Board meeting: Quality of Life Centers Immigrant Engagement Community Branding Housing
23rd Street Streetscaping Wellness Culture Mentoring Five priorities were existing, with Wellness Culture and Mentoring being new. These Priorities will be the road map for the Chamber leadership team for the next 12 months.

The 2017 “Red White KaBoom” fireworks display is still months off, but the committee’s fundraising is well underway. The committee thanks the employees of CAMACO-Columbus, Jackson Services, and Moore’s Greater Shows for offering a matching challenge to kick-off fundraising for
the 6th year in a row! Between them, they will match the first $9,000 donated! If you would like to support the fireworks and get your employees VIP passes and parking, contact the Sandie at 564-2769 or [email protected] for a Red White KaBoom sponsorship form.
