strengthen our parish community; to foster Catholic family life; to protect human life

in all its stages; to be a source of blessing and consolation to those who are not as

blessed as are we.

For this we pray, for we know that God is the one who has the power to change

hearts and minds. But, we cannot simply put all these concerns in God’s hands. Nor

can the work of our Council depend only on the sweat of the “faithful few” who

step up to offer themselves every time there is a need.

Our greatness as a Knights of Columbus Council will be achieved when we each

decide to work as if everything depended upon us. There are many needs. And as

we bring them to the Lord in prayer, we also have to take one more step. We have

to stop and consider what we are going to do personally to meet that need.

passion as did Ms. Adams with her versatility to move

from operatic vocalize to a heartfelt and deeply personal

contemporary ballad. The first concert was performed in front of a private

audience Tuesday, July 20th. The second concert was

performed at St Monica Church Wednesday July 21st.

The concert consisted of instrumental solos, trios and

vocal works mixed with inspiring, personal stories of love

and loss, of tragedy and hope. The audiences got to hear

a music piece that Mr. Genuis wrote for his daughter who

has Down Syndrome. The concerts organizers BK Patrick O’Brien and BK

Chris Herzog worked very hard in organizing this event.

They thank the audience for coming and reiterated the

importance of music and its impact on us all. All donations

collected during the performances will fund the Council’s

ACTs Retreat Coming to St. Monica

While we may be blessed with enough food to

eat there are those around us who struggle to put

food on the table. The North Dallas Shared

Ministries is a local organization that provides

assistance to those less fortunate. Their Food

Pantry provides food and hygiene items to over

30,000 people each year.

As a way to help out the Food Pantry, please

bring non-perishable food items to the next

council general meeting on Tuesday,

September 7th. Among the items they accept

are bread, tortillas, canned fruits and vegetables,

breakfast items, soups, pastas, rice, sugar, flour,

baby food and diapers, laundry detergent,

toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper,

deodorant, sanitary napkins, and razors.

Brother Knights, Our council really needs you for just 10 minutes before and after Mass this weekend! And

since you go to Mass anyway, it seems so easy... And yet... We need a minimum of 4 people at each Mass to COMMIT to volunteering before and after their preferred

Mass this weekend to advertise and sell tickets for the Feast of St. Monica Pancake Breakfast coming on August

29th. Did you notice the word COMMIT in all caps in the previous paragraph. Our council is great at stepping up

when asked. But like men everywhere, we often avoid commitment. However, since there will be money on the

table, we NEED you to reply by e-mail and COMMIT to a Mass time so we know we have them all covered. Just

tell me which one Mass time you plan to go to this weekend and then show up 10 minutes early in the narthex

for instructions. If you can't make it this weekend, no reply is necessary. We certainly understand that some people have

vacations or other commitments. If you have any questions, please contact me, Mike Eddings at 214-460-7609. Thank you for your help and

especially for your COMMITMENT.
