This process involves planning, evaluation and assessment of our achievements against the Schools Excellence Framework (available on the Schools NSW website). The process also includes a procedure called external validation which occurs once in a 5 year period. We have been advised that our school will be externally validated next term and have commenced preparations. We look forward to the opportunity to share the great achievements of our school. Sea of Hands If you have walked past the front of the school in the past few days you would have seen the beautiful Sea of Hands installation created by our students and staff to celebrate National Reconciliation Week. The theme for this year’s Reconciliation Week is Our History, Our Story, Our Future. Our school also released it’s own vision for reconciliation which was constructed with the IPS community. Thank you to Mrs Westcott and the teachers involved for their work on this important agenda. Stage 3 Canberra & Snowy Mountains Excursion On Tuesday of Week 8 our Stage 3 students will be heading off on the bi- annual trip to Canberra and Snowy Mountains. This is a fantastic learning experience for our students as they experience these places and learn about their significance. We know that they will represent our school well and thank Mrs Webb and the teachers for providing this valuable experience. We know that they will all have a fantastic time. Year 5 Dancesport Yesterday I had the pleasure of accompanying Year 5 students during their Dancesport lessons along with students from Broderick Gillawarna School. This program is proving to be a most valuable experience for the students as they learn universal dance routines whilst learning respect and empathy for others. A number of students will be selected to represent IPS and BGS at a gala performance in early September. Mrs Sharon Galway Relieving Deputy Principal Proudly brought to you by the Journalism Club Term 2 Week 6 2016 Cybersafety With increased exposure to technology and different mediums for communication, collaboration and sharing information, safety and security remains a priority. At Ingleburn Public School we aim for our students to be positive digital citizens. This means that safe practices occur both at home and at school. Students are reminded to search safely on Internet websites and to report any inappropriate material seen to their parents if at home and their teachers if at school. Students, parents and teachers are responsible for making sure that they are only accessing age appropriate sites and understand that certain games, social media and websites have an age limit for user safety. Technology is an amazing learning tool that will impact the lives of our students beyond their schooling life and we hope to enable our students with the tools to navigate the technological world safely. Further information can be found on the Schoolbag App under parent information or at http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/techn ology

10 students from IPS in Mrs Westcott's math group went on the train to travel to the out of the box workshop which was hosted at Glenfield Public School. When we arrived, we immediately went to their school hall where we could do warm up puzzles whilst we waited for the schools who haven’t arrived yet. When they arrived, we started lollipop challenges. After we did the lollipop challenges, we started our first challenge. You can get stamps for answering questions correct, the pairs who got the most stamps win. The winners were Maheema and Marcel. We then had a short 30 minute break. We then had to work with students from a different school with the same rules from the first challenge except with almost twice as many questions. The winners were Enoch and his partner from another school . We then had a short 5 minute break with a school photo containing all the different schools mixed together. After that we had a school vs school challenge, where little schools were mixed together. We came second. After that, the prizes for the challenges [all 3] were presented.
