Types of Tissue
• Muscle Tissue – tissue that can contract and expand. • If you ever hear a doctor saying you
have soft tissue damage, it’s usually muscle tissue.
Types of Tissue
• Nerve Tissue – tissues that send messages around your body. • Conduct electricity• Hardest tissue to repair• Your brain is made mostly of nerve
tissue.

• Connective Tissue – provides support for your body and connects all its parts. • Skeleton: Strong and supports the
body.• Fat: pads and provides insulation• Blood: goes between the tissues
delivering Oxygen and sugar.

• Epithelial Tissue – covers your body inside and out!• Skin: keeps things out of your body
that will harm it. • Digestive Track: absorbs only the
things you need to survive, and releases chemicals.
Think Pair Share
• With the person sitting next to you, take 2 minutes to explain one of the tissue types and it’s function.
Homeostasis
• The body’s tendency to maintain an internal balance.
• The process by which an organism’s internal environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the external environment.
Stress
• The reaction of your body and mind to threaten, challenging, or disturbing events.
• What happens due to stress?
Affects of Stress
• Muscles tense up• Hearing ability increases• More blood goes to the brain• Pupils in the eyes widen• Heart rate increases• Digestive system slows• Adrenaline is released
Fight or Flight
• This is the name for the response to stress. • Fight, you stay and deal with the
issue• Flight, you get away from the problem
• Adrenaline – gives you a burst of energy and causes many other changes in your body.
Long Term Stress
• Weakens the body, makes you tired, irritable, and trouble getting along with others. Also some things happen in the body as well.
