TODAY’S PROGRAM

Volume 64, Number 31

In his forty years as a full-time entertainer, Dave has performed for European royalty, leaders of business and industry, five Texas governors, and three Presidents of the United States. His eight films as an actor include the Oscar-winning “The Trip To Bountiful.” He has worked in over 300 radio and TV commercials. Children know him as “Farmer Dooley” with Barney The Dinosaur. He has also been a researcher for Paul Harveyʼs The Rest Of The Story.

Currently, Dave is also the Morning Drive host at “Legends 770,” KAAM Radio in Dallas.

A 5th-generation Texan from Gainesville, Dave now lives in Irving with his wife Gina and son Erik.

Dave has programs for every occasion and for major holidays, but his most requested programs are those on Texas. Dressed as every proper Long Tall Texan should be, and singing Texas songs literally from A to Z, Dave charts the growth and development of our unique Texas perspective on the world. With tales of the Alamo, Apaches and “yes“ Aggies (and thatʼs just the “A”s!), Dave reflects the pride both native and adoptive Texans feel in our Lone Star State. President Fred Brown called the meeting to order. Charlotte Kroeker gave the invo-cation, and added that we should keep the families of PDG Mark Healy who has passed away and of Barbara Meier, wife of PDG Frank Meier . Philip Ray led the Pledge of Allegi-ance and the “Star Spangled Banner.” Jim Evans introduced our visitors and guests, including a journalism teacher from Hillcrest H.S. Chris Short announced The Hub and web advertisers, and that there were only two months open for advertising on the web. Steve Herman quickly claimed one of them!

Greg Pape recognized Pam Carvey and Brad Rejebian, to become Paul Harris Fellows, one from a donation made anony-mously and one made by Bob Heard. Greg explained that “this ties the knot” is a theme of the RI Foundation in promoting peace, good will and better understanding around the world. PP Jim Mills, accompanied by “Some Old Time Rock and Roll,” reminded us of the evening meeting coming soon.

Tracy Gomes brought two bracelets made by children of the City if the Dump in Nicaragua to auction off to benefit the Interact Club members going on the trip to Nicaragua. One was sold for $120 to XX. The second went for $125. Kendall Laughlin volun-teered a donation. Moody Alexander asked Jina McDan-iel, Pam Carvey, Kennis Ketchum, Roy

podium. Roy reported that they had several people from south and east Dallas, some from St. Philipʼs Church and from Jubilee Center that his church supports, who had not had teeth for twenty years who were embarrassed to smile and had trouble getting a job. He said when he had fitted one of the womenʼs teeth, she had cried. Roy described Michael as the “ringleader” who coordinates it all. Roy said he had thirteen dentists in his office, three surgery residents from Baylor, a perio-dontist and five or six general dentists. Roy presented Michael with a framed certificate for all of his work, a bouquet of balloons and a standing ovation.

PP Jim Mills introduced our speaker, investigative re-porter Brett Shipp. He began by saying he did not know when John Wiley Price will be indicted, even though he is

asked all the time. He said that it had taken two years for Don Hill to be indicted. A lot of the evi-dence against JWP has been made public and it appears to make a sub-stantial case. He said he is also watching to see who else will be indicted as well. He says JWP keeps getting re-elected because he is one of the smartest people he has met, is very hard-working and may be the most powerful man in Dallas. He also told about his story on the cheating at Kimball H.S. The head basket-ball coach at Kimball has been recruiting play-ers from other school districts. He said Deion Sanders hates him because he has investiga-ted his school, that the academics are very poor. It is just a basketball factory, and is no longer allowed to play in the UIL.

THOUGHTS ON . . .

When you live in Texas, every single time you see snow it’s magical.

~ Pamela RibonIf I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went cam-ping in the desert. After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep. Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, “Kemo Sabe, look toward the sky, what do you see?” The Lone Ranger replies, “I see millions of stars.” “What does that tell you?” asked Tonto.

The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute then says, “Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and poten-

tially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorolo-gically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What's it tell you, Tonto?”

"You are dumber than buffalo dung. It means someone stole the tent."
