This past weekend some students and I attended the middle school fall retreat at Butler Springs. It was a fan-tastic experience with some truly awesome students. We had the opportunity to enjoy all that the camp has to offer as well as some extra fun put together by the group who was running the retreat. I know that our students were enriched by the weekend and I feel that I got to know each of them a little better because of spending those few days with them.

The theme of the weekend was “Enough: God is. I am. We are.” The main passage for the weekend was Je-sus’ feeding of the 5000 in John 6. Each main session dealt with how throughout our lives each of us has been told that we are not enough. It may have been a coach who told you that you weren’t good enough to make the team, or a girlfriend/boyfriend who told you that you weren’t enough for them and they dumped you, or may-be a trusted friend betrayed you and told you that your friendship wasn’t worth enough for their loyalty. Each of us has been told at one point or another that we don’t measure up and that we are not enough. However, God looks at us and sees someone who was valuable enough that He was willing to sacrifice His own son to redeem us. So, God says we are enough, but do we really be-lieve it? God says that all we really need, can be found in relationship with Jesus but do we act like it? Often, we tell Jesus, through our actions and choices, that He is not enough. That we want a relationship with Him but also with our favorite sin. As if a relationship with Jesus will only give us part of what our soul longs for. We keep

back some parts of our life from Jesus’ Lordship because we are worried that we will not be able to live without them. The truth is, the more we become like Jesus, the more His wants and desires become ours. We begin to de-sire what He desires and find satisfaction more and more in relationship with Him. So here is the whole point of all of this: Jesus is enough, and you are enough. May that reality bring you peace and draw you closer to your savior. Grace and Peace Adam _______________________________________
