From the General Manager
We would like to thank the members that were
able to attend the Winter Kick-Off Party that was
held on November 12th. The dance floor was
hopping all night as we had over 200 people attend
the event! It was such a great party that we will
look at doing something along the same line next
year. The Thanksgiving buffet was well attended
with about 150 guests. As we get into December
we will be hosting the “Santa Brunch” on
Sunday December 18. This is a great time to come
to the club and experience all of the decorations.
We would like to thank the ladies in the LGA for
taking the time to decorate the club house.
During the month of December we will be
providing a variety of entertainment on
Wednesday night. We also look forward to Tom
Arnold’s music during the seafood buffet on the
last Friday of the month. New year’s eve will be a
early cocktail party with piano entertainment so
check the calendar for the different acts.
Chef Lucio will feature theme buffets throughout
the month as well as special features in addition to
the menu. Each meal period will be listed here in
the clubber.

The club is so festive this time of year, I just love seeing members enjoy the decorations and family feeling when attending our holiday events. Prospective members as well feel right at home when they come in and I believe this definitely helps make their decision to join our club. We have quite a few new winter members already this season; please continue to recommend our winter membership to those around you as we continue to be the first choice for membership once they hear about our various membership opportunities and especially after they visit and play a round at the club. Our Annual Christmas Brunch is on the 18th—please be sure to make a reservation and let us know how many children you will have in attendance so we can ensure a gift for all that the kids will enjoy! As always, please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns, and I will do all I can to ensure you enjoy your membership to the fullest.
See you at the Club, Christy Dollins, Membership Director

2017 NEW YEAR’S INVITATIONAL
We have a full field and a substantial waiting list for the 91st New Year’s Invitational to be held January 5th-8th, 2017. Jimmy Jones, the 2016 champion, will be returning to defend his title. He should get strong competition from several University of South Florida teammates and contingents from Florida, Auburn, FSU, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Purdue and Seton Hall, to name just some of the schools who will be represented this year. The mid-amateur(25 and over) group in the championship division will be solid again, led by Tampa’s Joe Alfieri who missed last year’s playoff by a single shot. In the senior division, twice-defending champ Dennis Monahan will also be returning. Our course is good now, should be in solid condition for us all this winter, including the tournament week in January. Remember the dates, you might en-joy coming out to watch. - Richard Hope, Tournament Chairman

Tennis Talk
2016 has gone by so fast, it’s hard to believe the Holiday Season is upon us. The cooler, drier weather is a sure sign that winter is upon us. After the hurricanes passed us by in the past couple months, we’ve hardly had a drop of rain. Satellite, South Pinellas, and Lakettes are all winding down their Fall seasons. The 2016 Men’s and Ladies Club Singles Championships were held this past month. The Ladies and Men’s ‘A’ Divisions were won by Silvie Bahula and John McMasters. Silvie is a new champion. She defeated Mary Ann Petrillo in the finals, 6-3, 6-1. In a re-match of last year’s final, John defeated Fred Guerrier, 6-2, 6-2. The champions will have their names engraved on the new plaque in the club hallway, as well as stenciled on their parking spot across from the tennis courts. Couples and Singles Mixed Doubles will be on Friday, December 2 at 6:15 PM. I have been emailing tennis players about court conditions and tennis events. If you would like to receive these blasts, write me at [email protected] or call the shop at 867-9105 and give me your email address. We are now in the busy season so please be sure to call ahead and book a court for night play as well as for Tuesday morning play. Tuesday is our busiest morning. Monday and Tuesday are the busiest nights for play. Night reservations start at 6:00 and last until 7:30 if someone is waiting. Court one will be the first court that must vacate if a group is waiting at 7:30. Merry Christmas one and all,
