INTERESTED IN PUBLIC INTEREST LAW?
LCS is now accepting applications for its Public Interest Career Coordinator positions
Number of positions: 2 Salary: $12.00/hr Hours: 10-15 hours/wk during the 2006-07 academic year. Duties of the Position: • Under the direction of the Assistant Dean and as a member of the Law Career Services team,
each Coordinator develops public interest/public sector career resources and accomplishes the following, among other responsibilities:
• Design and implement appropriate career-related programming. • Organize and manage the annual Public Interest Career Fair. • Coordinate Santa Clara’s participation in Public Interest/Public Sector Day. • Oversee the law school’s Pro Bono Recognition Program and Pro Bono Luncheon. • Advertise volunteer opportunities in conjunction with the Pro Bono Recognition Program. • Maintain and disseminate current public interest/public sector career and fellowship information. • Contribute to the PILCS website. • Advise students regarding resumes and cover letters for public interest/public sector jobs. • Serve as the Law Career Services liaison with related departments.

2006-2007 SCU Law Scholarship Application
The 2006-2007 application to renew your Law Faculty, Emery or Public Interest Scholarship is now available.
Current scholarship holders must reapply. Scholarships will not be considered for renewal if a completed application is not received by the
deadline date. Please return your completed application to the Law Financial Aid Office in Heafey
240 by MAY 20, 2006. Applications turned in after this date will not be accepted.
Law Faculty scholarships will be renewed if you
continue to demonstrate financial need and satisfactory academic progress. Eligibility and the amount will be
reviewed annually.
Emery Scholarships are not automatically renewed. Emery scholarships may be renewed if the academic conditions in the original award letter are met and
funds are available.
Students who do not currently have a scholarship may apply; however, new awards are limited by the
availability of funds. Please contact Richard Alfaro, Director of Law Financial Aid, at [email protected] or
call 408-551-1719 if you have any questions.

Pulitzer prize winning San Jose Mercury News writer Rick Tulsky discusses his three-year investigation of the Santa Clara County criminal justice system

The Northern California Innocence Project at Santa Clara University will host a panel discussion featuring Fredric Tulsky, author of “Tainted Trials, Stolen
Justice,” and Gerald Uelmen, SCU law faculty. The panel will be moderated by Cookie Ridolfi, Executive Director of NCIP.
The San Jose Mercury News published Mr. Tulsky’s findings of a three year study of Santa Clara County criminal trials in a five part series beginning on January 22, 2006. His findings included many factors that lead to wrongful conviction, including questionable conduct by prosecutors, defense attorneys, trial judges
and the appellate court.
