Monthly Membership Luncheon at MCC-Blue RiverJuly 20, 2016

Even with family vacations, tempera-tures in the 100’s, and our Royals (#ForeverRoyal) diverting many of our members’ attention, a group of 102 still made it to our July luncheon at MCC-Blue River. Big thanks to Dr. Michael Banks for an impressive presentation on some of MCC-Blue River’s history and what is in store for its future. A number of attendees stopped a few staff to say it was the best chamber luncheon they’d ever attended! Thank you, as always, to those who attended and made it a wonderful afternoon for all.

Farewell to Three of our Own

In August, we will say goodbye to three young ladies who’ve made a tremendous impact on the Independence Chamber and her co-workers. Kelsey Edwards will begin student teaching at Little Blue Elementry, Megan Sturm will be finishing her last semester at William Woods University and Morgan Toczek will be recently married and finishing her last year at Missouri University. All three of these young women have been extraordinary assets to the Independence Chamber and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours! We will miss you!

Chamber Endorses “No” vote on Question 1 on August 2ndThe Independence Chamber Board of Directors voted to endorse a “No” vote on Question 1, which is in regards to the sales tax paid on motor vehicles, trailers, boats and outboard motors, that will be on the August 2nd ballot. Voters will decide whether to maintain a sales tax that brings in millions of dollars to the city yearly for a wide range of crucial services. Losing the tax would also put local car and boat dealers at a significant competitive disadvantage.
