Life is full of challenges: Sales keep increasing in your business, but you find yourself with less and less cash in your checking account. Your staff at your business keeps growing, but there aren’t any expandable walls in that office you are renting. You spend too much time trying to keep those machines operating when a new one would make your business much more efficient. You represent a bank called “Home Savings” and have to convince people that you are a commercial banker focused on financing businesses around Central Ohio.

Okay, maybe that last challenge is a little too specific? Officially incorporated as Home Savings & Loan Co. of Youngstown, Ohio, one can see why employees answer the phone as “Home Savings.” This 125-year-old bank has been doing business in Central Ohio for many years on the residential mortgage side. Believing that Central Ohio is the home for many strong and growing businesses, the bank opened a commercial banking division in Columbus in late 2015.

Leading the charge is Don Guilbert, a Central Ohio resident since 1987, and graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. Beginning in 1997, Don has held a

variety of banking roles in credit underwriting, managing a team of business bankers, and client relationship building. In 2015, Don joined Home Savings to tackle the challenge of growing the bank’s commercial portfolio in Central Ohio

while working with businesses that are looking for a variety of financing needs – working capital, equipment and real estate needs. Don focuses on meeting with business owners, understanding their history, where they stand today, and most importantly, where they hope their goals take them.

Life is full of challenges. When it comes to your business and its cash flow and borrowing needs, just call Home first. (You knew that was coming...)
