Bishop’s Bible Reading Challenge March Reading List In January Bishop Lewis suggested making a resolution to read the Bible together this year. Here is the list for this week. The link backtothebible.org/reading-guide/15/1 will give the reading for each day.

Africa University Reaches out to Refugees A Story from Africa University Today Africa University is extending a lifeline to young refugees through scholarship programs and other assistance. Worldwide, there are more than 21 million refugees, half of whom are under the age of 18. UNHCR data shows that sub-Saharan Africa hosts more than 26 percent of the world's refugee population. Before receiving a scholarship to attend Africa University, Clemantine Uwineza of Rwanda lived with her parents and two brothers at Tongogara Refugee Camp in eastern Zimbabwe. "During my high school, my parents would sacrifice the little [UNHCR refugees] subsidy to pay my school fees. My elder brother did not continue learning because there was not enough money to pay for both of us," she said. Thanks to the Usahwira Scholarships program, a partnership between Africa University and United Methodist churches and members, Clemantine was able to continue her education. She called the scholarship "a blessing," adding that she never would have been able to attend AU without it. She is the first in her family to graduate college, earning her degree in psychology in 2016. There are many other refugees like Clemantine with Africa University success stories, including two other long-term residents of the Tongogara Refugee Camp, Sarah Nzaki of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Evelyne Ingabire of Burundi. The young women, both orphans, received last-minute financial aid in October 2016 and are currently attending the university. Tuarira Mtaira, the chair of Africa University's financial aid committee, helped them get to campus and register for classes. "Even though they say gratitude is the language of the heart, these girls expressed their gratitude with rears of joy. They could nor believe that somebody whom they have never met could rekindle their lost hope," Mtaita said.
