Children’s Shoe Collection November 4-18 Hi, my name is Bonnie Crouch, every year I join a team of wonderful people from the Good Samaritan Mission Council. We travel to La Romana Dominican Republic, where we do a construction project and a medical clinic for the Haitian people who work / live in the sugar cane fields. We hand out clothing, medicine, food, shoes, and hygiene products. One of the many needs is gently used or new children’s spring / summer shoes. If the children do not have shoes they are not allowed to attend school. Would you please consider donating those gently used shoes that your children have outgrown or no longer wear? I have placed a collection box in the Prayer Chapel (the room off the Narthex). I am also able to take donations when I drop off and pick up my two grandchildren from Calvary preschool Tuesday thru Friday, or contact me at [email protected] to make other donation arrangements.

Care Packages KIDS AWAY AT COLLEGE? SEND IN THOSE ADDRESSES! Please send in the address for your college student to receive a care package from our family ministries groups! We

put together these packages (often with YOUR leftover Halloween candy, hint-hint) and send them when our kids at college are preparing for exams. It’s a

great way to send an “I love you” from church! Please send addresses to [email protected]

Continuing Ministries at Calvary Vitamins for Honduras Art for Humanity is seeking non-prescription medicines

and vitamins for its medical clinic. Calvary will be collecting prenatal vitamins to contribute to this important work. There is a labeled box in the prayer chapel next to the

narthex where these vitamins can be collected.

Non-Perishable Food for AFAC Calvary takes any non-perishable food collected (using the box in the Prayer Chapel) to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center) following the first Sunday of the month.

The Pastor’s Discretionary Fund There is a fund to assist people who struggle to make ends meet. We do not provide rental assistance or gas money but, as funds allow, do provide for other living needs. To contribute, please use the baskets at the front of the side aisles in the sanctuary. You may also designate “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund” on your check, on the offering envelope in the pew, or through the option at on-line giving. Thank you for your support to those in need.

Wright, which is a study on “Why Christianity Makes Sense.” On-Line Group The on-line book group has begun Richard Rohr’s book Breathing Under Water, Spirituality and the 12 Steps. The format for this group is to receive an e-mail once a week with a thought or question for the chapter for that week. Folks respond (or read and reply) as they feel led. For information, please contact Beth Posey at [email protected]. Praying Wives Each day a blind e-mail is sent to help us remember to put God in our marriages as we begin the day.
