Sunday Ministry Opportunity A Chance to Work With Children Two WONDERFUL events in the lives of those who work with children and youth are coming in the next two months! Kathy Harrington is moments away from having a baby (YEA YEA YEA) and Ashley Richardson is engaged! Kathy will definitely be out a day or two (ha!) and Ashley and her future husband want to worship together at the church where they will be married. Because of these changes, I encourage you to ACT if you have been wanting to be involved in the Sunday morning ministry here at Calvary. Our time begins at 8:30 (nursery / Sunday school during worship), continues at 9:40 (Sunday school for all ages) and during the 11:00 hour (nursery and children’s church). Two volunteers each week at any and all of these times would help to ensure the continued excellence and personal attention that children and youth encounter when they come to be with their big God family here at Calvary. Paperwork is required, as all those who work regularly with children and youth have background checks. Please prayerfully consider how God is calling you into this ministry. Talk with Beth Posey or e-mail her at [email protected] with questions.

Helping Those in Need Helping the Homeless in Arlington This year Calvary UMC has joined in efforts at Central United Methodist Church (located in Balston at 4201 Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA 22203) in preparing and serving food to the homeless of Arlington County. On Thursday evenings from 6:30-8pm volunteers gather to prep for Friday meal distribution. On Friday mornings from 5:30am-noon Central UMC again welcomes volunteers to cook and serve hot meals. This ministry is an extension of ASPAN (Arlington Street People's Assistance Network). If interested please feel free to enter the rear downstairs kitchen entrance at Central UMC and jump right in lending a helping hand!

The Pastor’s Discretionary Fund Have you wondered how Calvary helps those in need? There is a fund, administered by the Pastor, that is available to assist people as they struggle to make ends meet. We do not provide rental assistance or gas money but, as funds allow, do provide for other living needs. Typically Calvary is able to give assistance to Arlington County residents. If you are able to help, there is an opportunity to do that. In the sanctuary, at the front of the side aisles, are two large baskets where donations can be left that will go directly to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. You may also designate “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund” on your check, on the offering envelope in the pew, or through the option at on-line giving. Thank you for your support to Calvary and those in need.
