Monthly interview With Kyle Danler
Hello, Everyone! I thought long and hard and then it hit me! Hello! You
need to meet Mrs. Bolin, our new Assistant Principal. She is married and has
3 sons. She went to Hamburg Central Schools. When she was in high school
a now retired teacher, Mr. Karpie inspired her to do what she is doing now.
She went to Canisius College in Buffalo but graduated early and then
decided to take some online classes.
Mrs. Bolin likes healthy food and also enjoys the TV show “Once Upon
a Time.”
She and her
family travel to
Rochester for
Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful
Thanksgiving,
Everyone
and say
“Hello” to
Mrs. Bolin
when you see her
at HMS.

Life is but a Leaf
By the sad poem man
Life is but a leaf drifting slowly along, Seeing new things with every breeze,
Eventually settling down. Only to find
A new wind blowing along. Life is but a leaf
Eventually long gone.

Dead
By Miss A
I know where you stand, hiding in the trees.
I know where you stand silent in the trees.
I can feel your breath.
I can feel my death.
I can hear you pull your Bow back,
I hear the arrow leave the bow.
I can feel the arrow enter my skin.
I remember seeing my orange, yellow, and red world turn black
I remember being dragged away.
I remember being plucked of my feathers.
I remember being stuffed with stuffing.
I remember being put in an oven and roasted.
I remember being put on a table in front of people whose eyes screamed hungry.
I remember being eaten inside out.
I am a Turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Steps
By Miss A
As I sprint down the snow covered path,
I can hear your tiny quick sharp breaths.
A wide demonic smile crept across my face.
My razor sharp k-9s are only inches away from your neck,
You make a sharp turn and escape my bite.
I fall down the mountain, but run up faster and then leap onto you!
You fall down the mountain, never to be found again.
I prowl around the top of the mountain, still hungry,
I lose my patience and run after a different prey.
I am a wolf

Hexaflexagons
By The Koopa Ninja
A hexaflexagon is a hexagon that “flexes” to reveal “3” faces or at least it appears that way.
Actually there are 6, of 12. The change in faces is because of two things. There are two kinds of
hexaflexagons, and the 6 triangles that form a hexagonal face can flip (sorry about poorness
of image).
Hexahexaflexagon
A hexahexaflexagon is a hexaflexagon that has 12 faces and 4 sides, yes 4. If you look at the
template on the next page, there are 4 sides. When you fold the template into a hexaflexagon it is still
4 sides. You can make 2.
Trihexaflexagon
The trihexaflexagon has 6 faces and still 4 sides if you use the template, you can make 2. The triangle
with an X will not be used. 9 triangles for each (tri)hexaflexagon.
Fold so each section has three triangles in it, and fold in the same direction. If you need help
folding your flexagons, use these videos.

THE PYGMY MARMOSET By Bryson Schwab
The Pygmy Marmoset is one of the smallest monkeys in the world. Their head to body length is between 4.6-6 inches and its tail length is 6.8-8 inches long. Pygmy Marmosets weigh a little more than 100 grams. The color of their fur is black, gray, and golden brown on its head and back. Its bottom half is orange and yellow. The tail has black rings all the way down. The diet of the Pygmy Marmoset consists of a variety of fruits, vegetables, eggs, pasta, cooked fish and meats, cereal, and rice. Small insects can also be offered to them in rotation because they will get bored with their food. They also love sweet foods like cakes, melted ice creams, and jelly. Even though they are the smallest monkey, they are not the smallest primate which is the Mouse Lemur.

The Amur Leopard
By Evan-san
The Amur leopard is a extremely rare species of leopard that
lives in the remote and snowy forests of eastern Russia’s Primorye
region. This big cats former home included Korea and northern China
but is now currently extinct in those countries. A study in 2007 only
counted 14 to 20 adults and about 5 to 6 cubs. Threats to this animal
include logging, road building and encroaching civilizations, poaching
and a major global climate change.

Game Review
Call of Duty
By James Dixon
“Call of Duty” is a well-known and popular first person shooter game. It has been around since 1999.
You can get any Call of Duty game for pretty much for any console, like X-box or PlayStation. The games teach you about wars in the past like World War 1, World War 2, and the Vietnam War.
My favorite series would be Black-Ops, which is the one
that takes place during the Vietnam War. The game starts off with the protagonist, Alex Mason, in an interrogation room, but before he got there, he was brainwashed by Russians. You play the events that happened before he was brainwashed.
I give this game 4.5 out of 5 stars.
CUPHEAD
By Yanni Rodis
Cuphead is a classic run and gun game, massively focused on boss
battles, the game is available to play on Xbox One, Windows, and Steam.
The game is inspired by 1930’s cartoons, visuals, and audio, and it was
created using the same techniques of the era, traditional hand drawn
cell animation. The game was developed by Studio MDHR Corp. You can
play as Cuphead or Mugman (Mugman only in local Co-op) as you travel
through strange worlds, collect new weapons, learn new Powerful moves,
discover hidden secrets, all at the same time trying to pay your debt
back to the Devil.

Trolls in the Pokémon Games
By ThePokeGamer
We all know the lovable Pikachu from Pokémon. You probably have watched at
least 1 episode from the animation, but over the past three years it has become
horrible! Starting from XYseries it has gone downhill. I stopped watching as soon
as Ash said this, “Always make lots of friends and be kind” BLECHHHHHHHH!!!
Today I am focusing on the games not the animation. They still have those
good ole Pokémon battles that last longer than 1 attack. But here are the 10
Trolliest things from the games:
Rock Pokémon don’t sink in water battles.
Pikachu can fly
Growlith can’t learn growl Growlith growl! It’s in the name
A rock is worth more money than a gold nugget
Charizard the dragon with wings is effected by earthquake, but Charizard
can FLY!
Your rival can start with a shiny Pokémon for you people who don’t play
Pokémon you have a 1 in 8192% chance in Pokémon X and Y
If you run away from a wild Pokémon there is a 75% chance it will follow you
and attack you again.
Finding a shiny then having it use self-destruct.
Having opponents use max potions

The Shadow In The Pond
By Lauren Dils
I woke up early in the morning, the sun blasting my eyes as my mom opened the blinds.
“Wake up, sleepy head. The bus isn’t able to come today, The driver is ill. You have to walk. Take the route in the woods.” In a swift move, she kissed my head and trotted out the door. “Breakfast in 10!” she hollered throughout the hall.
I moaned as I rolled out of my baby blue satin sheets. I picked myself up from my messy floor and zombie walked to my closet. I picked out my effortless outfit and stuffed my books in the same old boring purple-polka-dotted backpack. Taking a whiff of the Belgian waffles cooking downstairs, I hopped in the shower for the first time is 3 days. The water was cold, like needles on my skin. We wouldn’t hook up the hot water until Sunday. I brushed my hair, tied it with a ribbon, and slipped into the black shirt and high shorts that made up my outfit. I put on my socks and laced up my grey high tops.
Swinging my bag over my shoulders, I raced to the table downstairs. My sister cried and cried until dad pushed a bottle in her mouth to shut her up. I scarfed my meal, said goodbye, and jogged out the door.
Tommy, my dog, chased after me. “Toms! This is the 3rd time this week you’ve chased me!” I giggled. I teared open my bag, to pull out his favorite rope. I whipped the toy into the forest of evergreen trees, green grass, and many squirrels. He darted forward, at least ½ a mile. I ran up a bit when he didn’t come back as fast.
“Toms, speak!” I ordered. A faint “woof” came from afar. I jogged up to him, to find him seated next to a small body of water that I’ve never seen before. A black body figure glowed in the sparkling blue pond. I jumped back when I saw it.
“What the -” I whispered. A black hand reached out to pet Tommy. Tommy barked and backed away.
“The pond is warm, you know. The fish love company, too,” The shadow whispered. Shocked, I asked “Who… are you?” The shadow smiled, and chuckled. “My name is Alena. I used to live here, until the
tragedy.” The shadow- er, Alena, drifted from sight, and back into it again. She snapped her fingers, and suddenly I was gone, into the dark cast of the water. She took me by the hand and we drifted through the water.
“This is where I live. You should join!” I looked at the wonders, and thought for a second. Before I could refuse, she snapped and I was back to the land, dry, but shocked again. “Think about it, but you’ll be late to class,” she smiled and winked.
I laughed and shook my head as I backed away and jogged back to class. “Bye Alena! Bye Tommy!” I shouted as I ran to school.
When I came back home, I told everyone my story. Of course, nobody believed me. I decided I couldn’t live in the water, I would miss home too much. But ever since that day, I visited Alena. My friends ask why I don’t take the bus anymore, but I just look at Tommy and wink. We share a laugh every time. That’s what happened in The Shadow In The Pond.

Wishbone! Ok, how can I escape Thanksgiving? “I have an idea!
*Wheeze! Wheeze!* You *Wheeze!* need a disguise! Get a mask to fool
that old farmer! *Wheeze!* We have to leave now! Good-byeeeeeee!”
Alright. Let's do this! Cue epic escape music! *10 minutes later and
a trip to the dollar store…* I got it! Now it’s time to escape! “Oh Mr.
Turkey!” Audible Gasp! That’s Old Mark-Ronald! Time to disguise! Wow,
I look a lot like bacon! “Where did my turkey go? And why is a ham in
the Turkey Shed? Whelp! I guess we’ll just have a ham for Thanksgiving
this year!!!” Gobble Gobble. Until next year! Turkey Berkley out…

Koz’s Pizza Alley
By Paul Kasprzak
Do you like pizza? If you do, go to Koz’s Pizza Alley of
Hamburg. It’s located at 507 Sunset Road, in the plaza by Sunset
and Camp Roads.
The pizza and fingers are real good. I personally rate the pizza and
fingers 4.5/5 stars. An order of pizza and fingers is just $13.83
with tax included. That’s not bad! Monday’s special is a Large Cheese pizza for only $13.05
this with tax included. (If you add a topping it’s additional .77 cents)
I rate this Koz’s Pizza Alley 5 Stars

Hey, Buffalo Sabre’s Fans here's the November schedule
Where are the good old days?
By Paul Kasprzak
So the Sabres are not doing so great. I really think that the Sabre’s owners should
have kept Dan Bylsma. The Sabres have been out of the playoffs since 1999 that’s about 18 years. That’s a long time!
What do you think?
Will the Buffalo Sabres make it to the Playoffs this year? YES NO
