Dear Church Family and Friends,

Hope all of you are well as we con&nue through these unusual days. Truly, most of us

cannot remember a &me during our lives when the churches were asked to suspend worship or

gatherings. Whether during &mes of celebra&on or tragedy we have assembled together as

God’s people.

Bishop Debra Wallace-Padge/ writes…

However, in this instance of the COVID-19 pandemic, health experts warn us that it is in

the best interest of church members, especially those in high-risk categories, the community, the

state of Alabama, our na$on and world for us to stop assembling for a period of $me for worship

services and other gatherings. We are told by trusted health authori$es that the best way to

slow down the spread of the contagious coronavirus in Alabama is now—early in its progress.

Congrega$ons that long to be together in worship during a $me like this, but who instead

suspend services to mi$gate the spread of COVID-19, are showing sacrificial care for others.

Therefore, the Bishop, District Superintendents, and Conference leadership are urging

and reques&ng that all North Alabama United Methodist Churches suspend in-person worship

and gatherings for the next two weeks March 16-30. The situa&on will be evaluated day-by-day

and week-by-week to determine when it is safe to resume in-person services and gatherings.

Our leaders will be in consulta&on with local, state, and na&onal health authori&es.

We will s&ll have worship services by way of radio and television on Sunday mornings

at the usual hour of 11:00 a.m.

Our church family and friends have already been at work this week through the

Nourish-One-Child Ministry helping provide nourishing food for over 250 children. This story

was on the Huntsville News.

One of our families sent us a video of their in-home Bible lesson with their precious

children singing.

Another family sent a clip of their children social distancing at home while bouncing on

the sofa giggling.

I’m confident that we are doing the right thing.

God will guide us through these days.

Thank you so much for the faithful way you love, serve, give, and witness for Jesus!

Yours in Christ,

Steve

I STILL BELIEVE!

It was such a special occasion to see a marvelous Chris&an Movie while also

celebra&ng the life of Kimberly Bea?e last Sunday night. By focusing on Kimmie and

visi&ng with Dru & David, as well as, an incredibly moving movie...all the scary stuff

outside the theater seemed to diminish for a moment. God is teaching us all so much

about perspec&ve right now and we have so much to learn.

To avoid any spoilers, let me just say that ‘I S$ll Believe’ reminds us that God

is always there despite unfavorable outcomes, disappointments, and grief. We may

doubt for a season, spin or sink in dismay, or even shake our fist toward heaven...God

is s&ll there pa&ently awai&ng our return to HIS comfor&ng embrace. Perspec&ve is

of the utmost importance right now. Fear is spreading across our na&on at a much

faster speed than any virus ever could. We need to remember that God is in control,

God is our rock and founda&on, and Jesus is our ever-present healer. In the Gospels

we hear of a &me that the Disciples were steering their boat across the Sea while

Jesus slept in the stern. When a crippling and possible fatal storm fast approached,

they panicked un&l finally remembering that THE Savior was right there with

them. Once they asked Jesus for help, HE simply said “Quiet, Be S$ll” and the storm

se/led. Now...right now...we have a storm on the horizon that has us nearly

consumed with FEAR (Future Events Appear Real). Yes, it is from a novel coronavirus

but the real storm is in our hearts - we must call on Jesus, ask for HIS help, and KNOW

that HE will calm the storm within us...then around us.

Then, we must remember that God works all things for HIS purpose when we

call on HIM, ask HIM, and let HIM. God didn’t cause this virus but God can use this

&me for HIS glory. Already, we find ourselves si?ng at a dinner table together with

no hurry to get to ball prac&ce or in bed early for school. Already, we are

apprecia&ng the things we take for granted like grocery supplies, school, mee&ng

together, and congrega&onal worship. Already, we are learning that ‘community’ can

mean caring for each other more apart than together. Already, we are growing faith

as we face an enemy forcing us to accept our powerlessness and lean on Jesus. Look

out for one another. Worship right where you are. I S(ll Believe and God is s&ll in

control!

Blessings, Hardin

Volunteers came together and packed 750 bags to get to students before school was out. Some of our school

Star&ng March 31st school buses will be delivering NOC bags to children 3 &mes a week. Almost 7000 food items
