1st ~ Poor in spirit = Humble
2nd ~ Mourn = can repent
3rd ~ Meek = yielding to God’s will
4th ~ Hunger and Thirst for righteousness
= desire to know and do right
5th ~ Merciful = compassion, forgiveness

Prov. 23:7 - “as he thinks in his heart”
1 Pet. 3:4 - “hidden man of the heart”
Matt. 15:19 - “out of the heart proceed”
Prov. 4:27 - “keep your heart”
Matt.12:34 - “abundance of the heart”
“Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.”

Jews had mistaken idea about heart

Honest = what is fair, right, honorable ethical, upright
“But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.” Rom. 6:17
Shall see God face to face
1 John 3:2 “for we shall see Him”
Rev. 22:4 “And they shall see his face”
God did not say…
“Blessed are the philosophers or the intellectual giants, for they shall see God.”
“Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.” Matt. 5:8
Specific - Pure in heart
Results - Shall see God
Principle - Purity
Application - Purity in conduct,
speech, manner of life

• Free from evil desires and purposes• Not hypocrites• Genuine, sincere, Christians
