A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. ~James Dent

Gentlemen Some of my friends and members of this club drive by our home and ask what happened to your R.V. I have sold my RV. We have a had a 5th wheel trailer and spent at least three months a year away from home in it for the last nineteen years. During this time we have had three different trailers each one larger than the one before. We have had four different trucks to pull these vehicles. I am thinking of how our life is going to change. We have traveled from coast to coast in the US south and spent our winters enjoying the warmer weather. We have spent time exploring the Maritime Provinces. One of the highlights of these adventures was a trip that we took down the Baja Peninsula from San Diego California to Cabo San Lucas Mexico that took us on narrow mountainous roads for 1000 kilometers each way. We have met a lot of interesting people and have been to many unique places. I know we will miss this life style but all good things come to an end. On another note I would like to congratulate the members of our club that received volunteer awards May 12th at the Wasaga Beach Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. These Club Members have served the Probus in many different ways and must be thanked for their dedication and service. They are Peter Gifford, Jim Beckett, George Potopnyk, Jack Hunter and Russ White. Thanks to these five as well as all of the other volunteers that make this club a success. George Howie

I decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it. I thought about making a fitness movie for folks my age and calling it 'Pumping Rust.' When people see a cat's litter box they always say, “Oh, have you got a cat?” Just once I want to say, “No, it's for company!” Employment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, ‘An ambulance.' The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends. The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement. Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL. The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble.

There is a bank bal-ance of $ 3386.78 which $ 1018.42 was the balance in the Social Committee Account. $ 500.00 is also set a side as an Emergency Social Fund Reserve, with an uncom-mitted net balance of $ 1654.36 as of April 30, 2018. Lori gave a presentation about the child migrant scheme
that brought 118,000 children to Canada from the UK from
1869-1939. They were brought to Canada to work as inden-
tured farm workers and domestics. It is estimated that ten
percent of the current Canadian population is a descendant
of a British Home Child. She also talked about how to re-
search the British Home Children and what life was like for
the children in the UK and Canada. This part of Canadian
history is relatively unknown and it is a story that needs to
be told.
The British Home Children Advocacy & Research Associa-
tion (BHCARA) is an international group of like minded indi-
viduals with an interest in or descendants of British Home
Children. The BHCARA in its third year now, quickly moved
to the forefront of the British Home Child Awareness Move-
ment in Canada. It is the first organization of its kind to use
the social media to function, and to promote the story of the
BHC with unparalleled and unprecedented success.
The BHCARA has given over 120 presentations on the
BHC. Although an author herself, Lori Oschefski's primary
focus at our presentation is to educate the audience about
the British Home Children.

LAUGHING TIME
Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want peo-ple to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks. Ah! Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable.
