• Food – raw materials needed to carry out life processes

• Water – aids in chemical reactions within the cell

• Air- used in chemical reactions that release energy from food

• Living Space – the area that contains the things they need to stay alive

Describe the different ways that living organisms obtain food/energy

Producers – can make their own food from water, certain chemicals and an energy source. (plants & organisms that live near ocean vents) Consumers – get their food from eating other organisms (cats, crickets) Decomposers - a special kid of consumer that gets its food from breaking down dead bodies or animal waste ( mushrooms, vultures)

The Green People of Solaron • Read the Story of the people of Solaron then

answer the following questions. (Put the answers on the back of this paper and staple it to your illustration)

– What is the main idea of the story? – How do the green people of Solaron obtain energy? – How do regular people of Solaron obtain energy?
