ANTHONY MEDICI
Anthony has been with The Athenaeum for three years. He started as a server in the dining room and has been our Purchasing and Inventory Clerk for the past two years. His favorite part about working at The Athenaeum is the friendly environment and working with peers from all different backgrounds. Anthony was born in Paris, France, where he spent most of his early life before moving to the French Alps to work at a ski resort, where he met his wife Sandra. Together, they moved to Los Angeles five years ago and have one daughter, Giulia, who is two years old, and are excited to welcome a second daughter this November. Outside of work, Anthony enjoys running on the trails of Griffith Park and reading and playing with his daughter.
Congratulations, Anthony, on a job well done!

The Hayman Lounge underwent a much needed renovation in the summer. Come and visit this month to see the transformation of the “new” Hayman. The Design Review Committee, chaired by member Sandy O’Rourke, worked with interior designers Jennifer Bevan and Kira Halter, to create the makeover. And of course, as previously reported, Mrs. Riyuki McCann genereously contributed to the refurbishment of the bar. We are most thankful to Mrs. McCann, the Design Review Committee, the designers and all those involved in the renovation project.
The Escoffier Dinner returns this year on Friday, October 18. This event is surely not one to be missed.
The Athenaeum employees’ pumpkin carving contest is an annual tradition at the club. The staff demonstrate their creativity through their pumpkin entries. As always, we ask members to vote for their favorite when the pumpkins are presented at the foyer on Halloween. The pumpkins will be displayed all day through dinner. Your vote counts in assisting us decide on the top three entries which will qualify for a prize.
I look forward to seeing you all at The Athenaeum. Please drop by my office when you are next at the club.

Radiance, the Passion of Marie Curie, by Alan Alda Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
Directed and Introduced by Kathryn Bikle
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2019, 7:30 p.m.
Radiance illuminates a little known period between pioneering chemist Marie Curie’s first Nobel Prize (1903) and her second (1911), a time of great scientific achievement and vivid personal struggle. After her husband’s death, Curie becomes passionately
involved in an affair with a married physicist, Paul Langevin. Rejected by the French press when the liaison becomes public, Curie is left to define her place in society and history on her own terms.
