Word Study -SOL focus:5.8j Use correct spelling.5.4c Use knowledge of roots to determine the meaning of new words.
The students will continue to work with words which have the prefix features re- and un-. The word study assessment will be given on Thursday, August 29 .Please check the agenda each night for Word Study homework assignments.
HW: Check the agenda for weekly homework assignments. Word Study test will be Thursday, August 29.
Reading -SOL focus:5.5m/5.6k Use reading strategies throughout the reading process to monitor comprehension.
5.5f Identify genres.
Read with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression.
The focus strategies for this week are Self-Monitoring, Making Inferences, Summarizing, and Synthesizing.Students are reading the fiction book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and A Package for Ms. Jewls from the Journey's textbook. HW: Read 20 minutes each night. Check the agenda for additional homework assignments.
