Year 2 Easter Newsletter
Hi Year 2
I have loved seeing the work that you have been doing at home over the last couple of
weeks and are impressed by the amount that some of you have done on Lexia, TT Rockstars
and 123 Maths. With Easter approaching, I have put together some ideas of Easter themed
things you might like to do at home.
Decorate an egg
Just like we usually do in school, decorate a hard-boiled egg and send us a photo of your
finished product. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Easter egg hunt! Get creative with some items you might have lying around the house.
to tell the searchers where to look.
prizes to do this, it could be more like a treasure hunt with clues hidden in different places Create an Easter egg hunt around your house and garden. You do not need loads of egg
There are lots of things you can make with things from around the house. Old toilet rolls can
be turned into Easter bunnies with some paper, glue and felt tip pens. An egg carton can be
turned into an Easter chick with some paints, a bit of paper and some glue. Or paper plates
can be made into bunny ears or a mask to wear. There are loads of ideas online or here are
some pictures to help you get started.
Easter Sports day
If you have space in your garden or can set up a route in your house, set up an Easter sports day. Hold events such as the egg and spoon race, egg rolling, bunny hop race and obstacle race using home-made obstacles.
Easter baking
Find a recipe to make a tasty Easter treat whether it be Easter
biscuits, chocolate crispy cakes or hot cross buns. Follow the
recipe carefully and don’t forget to send us pictures of your
finished results. This will help with our Maths unit Measurement
and time/duration. You will need to weigh your ingredients and
decided how long to cook your tasty treats for.
Easter cards

English
It is the Easter holidays but if you do find yourself wanting to do some English or maths
work, here are some Easter themed ideas…
Easter writing
You wake up on Easter to discover that you have become the Easter bunny. What would
your day be like as an Easter bunny? Describe your experience.
Imagine if…
The Easter bunny is normally the face of Easter. Imagine if another animal was the face of
Easter. What animal would you choose to represent Easter and why? How would this animal
change Easter? Draw a picture or do a short piece of writing to show how it would be
different.
Explain Easter
Find out about different Easter traditions around the world and write an explanation text
about how Easter is celebrated around the world.
