SPRING 2015 UPDATE New Sites 2015 got off to a great start, with an announcement that we will launch two new GIYM programmes in Exmouth and Ipswich, the latter associated with the Elena Baltacha Academy. This now brings the total of GIYM programmes up and running in the UK to thirteen. EXMOUTH In January, GIYM joined forces with Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre a site managed by LED Leisure Management Ltd (LED) a charitable notforprofit organisation. In this first term alone we can report that the programme has commenced with five primary schools gaining an opportunity to introduce children to tennis. So far no less than 500 youngsters have benefitted from an opportunity to play, which is a remarkable achievement by the Exmouth team, led by Jo Louis, a member of GB’s 2015 World Championship winning 45’s ladies side. ELENA BALTACHA ACADEMY of TENNIS (EBAT) At the start of March GIYM partnered the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis (EBAT) and her Foundation to fund their Schools “Road Show” Programme. EBAT plans to deliver its Tennis Road shows at 24 primary schools in the Kesgrave and Colchester areas of Ipswich. The aim is to introduce tennis to 1,000’s of infant and primary school children each year and to retain pupils in tennis through followup programmes. (Children from The Elena Baltacha Academy) As ever, we are delighted to welcome Exmouth and EBAT to the GIYM family and we look forward to a rewarding partnership with both sites.
