After buying a Peugeot 106 gti from ebay as an unfinished project with the help of Mark Waby now PP Motorsport’s head engineer the car was transformed into very credible track car and the story began. The small two man team quickly grew into a very professional outfit and in the space of just 18 months the decision was made to progress into competitive Motorsport in the Michelin Clio Cup which was a race series designed as a stepping stone into the British Touring Car Championship. The profile of sponsors grew at a fast rate as did the team within this tough championship and John took the novice championship title in his first year. Over the winter of 2014/15 we began talks with Anton Spires and before long he had be enlisted to join the team along with Keith Freeman, Anton’s granddad to initially coach John in his second year of racing but also to later become the teams second driver. By the end of the 2015 season the team had grown from two men with a van and trailer to a fully fledged professional outfit with two cars and drivers all fully supported through an extensive range of sponsorship packages. After some time to reflect over the early part of the 2015 winter break on what the team had achieved in such a short space of time the decision was made to make the step up into the UK Clio Cup with John running the team and Anton as the teams driver.
