Just a reminder about students wearing full school uniform. Coloured joggers are creeping in. Please remember that black school shoes or black joggers are to be worn every day that students do not wear their sports uniform. I am also seeing black shorts in the playground. All students are to wear navy blue shorts (or grey school shorts for the boys). We want all students to feel that they belong in our community and all students wearing the full school uniform supports this. MUSIC - MRS BAIRD

Great, learning is happening in the Music Room this term. The infants and Stage Two children are playing a variety of instruments as well as learning the key basic theory of music. Stage One are experimenting with the beat, how it can be fast or slow. They are producing their own versions of loud and soft music and mixing it with different types of music. The children are encouraged to create a piece of music and they take immense pleasure in performing their creations for the rest of the class. Stage Two are playing simple songs on the recorder, with terrific results. They are learning about base and treble clefs, notes and silences in music. They are learning to read musical notes and to take this knowledge and incorporate it in concerts for their classmates. Much of the time is spent experimenting and exploring the different types of music. The music room has had 26 new sets of headphones purchased this term. These headphones allow both students on every keyboard the opportunity to share, listen, respond to and enjoy each other’s creations.

1/2G - MISS GRIFFIN

TEACHER IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Numeracy We have been working very hard to develop our multiplication skills. This term we have discovered that we are superstars when it comes to arrays! 1/2G have become very confident in being able to represent different times tables with pictures and concrete materials and then find the appropriate answer. We will be able to transfer this knowledge to division! We have also been having lots of fun with multiplication, creating an “Array City”. As you can see in the picture, the windows on our city buildings represent the arrays! Literacy We have been learning so much in Literacy! In spelling, we have been focusing on phonemes, graphemes and segmenting. These skills will help us when it comes to reading and writing. In writing, we have been learning about the structure of recounts. We enjoyed learning about the

MRS KATRINA CECCATO

Mrs Ceccato enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.

As a teacher she really loves those “I get it!” moments from students when they understand a concept that was

previously difficult.

5/6A - MISS AMARO

YEAR 6 GIRLS REFURBISH FRONT GARDEN ...

More on this next week …. What a great initiative! Thank you to Essential Energy (Mr Ian Muller pictured) for their kind donation of 4 cable spools that will be used as tables!

A focus on Geography …. In geography, we have been learning about cultural diversity and comparing different countries together. Each student has chosen their own Asian country to research. We have also been discovering more about the traditional owners of this land (Indigenous people). We have linked this subject to what we have been doing in art. More specifically, we have been making our own Indigenous art that represents our ‘meeting place’ at school. Each symbol on the paper represents a place in the school. Our classroom is a big symbol in the middle of the page because that is where we spend the most time in a school day. Written by Rhys Irvin, Leila Ratcliff and Rahni Cabahug
