exemption granted under section 57 of the Act for a period of three years.This exemption has been granted to permit the Australian Red Cross Society to advertise and employ an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander for the position of Customer Services Officer on the basis that:(a) the position is part of the Australian Red Cross Society’s

Indigenous Employment Programme, a joint initiative between the Australian Red Cross Society and the Commonwealth Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet;

(b) the position is consistent with the Australian Red Cross Society’s aims developed in the Bright Futures – Reconciliation Action Plan 2015–2018 to guide the organisation’s policies and practices in recruiting, retaining and supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff and volunteers;

(c) the position is consistent with the Australian Red Cross Society’s goal of increasing the current Aboriginal and Torres

Strait Islander workforce by 2018 and to fully support and provide continuing career opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the organisation and the broader community; and

(d) Aborigines and/or Torres Strait Islanders are a disadvantaged group in respect of employment and the Indigenous Employment Programme is a scheme for the benefit of a disadvantaged group and a program that promotes equal opportunity.

a) report on or before 30 November 2016 to the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner on actions taken in reliance on this exemption; and

GENERAL PURPORT OR EFFECT OF THE ABOVEMENTIONED STATUTORY RULES

(1) Inland Fisheries (Seasons and Waters) Amendment Order 2016

This order amends the Inland Fisheries (Seasons and Waters) Order 1996 by –

(a) providing that acclimatised fish may only be taken from South Riana Dam or Talbots Lagoon between the first Saturday of August in a year and the Sunday nearest 30 April of the following year, and then only from one hour before sunrise to 3 hours after sunset; and

(b) providing that the taking of freshwater fish from the waters flowing into Talbots Lagoon is prohibited at all times; and

(c) adjusting, by way of statute law revision, the wording of a fishing prohibition contained in the order to ensure that the wording agrees with the relevant power in the Inland Fisheries Act 1995.
