On April 1st, people from our school, participated in an event called the Superin-tendent’s 5K Run. The event commenced at the Miami Science Museum, then the runners went along MacArthur Causeway, last-ly the run ended at Zoo Miami. The run was held as a fundraiser where many different schools were funded. On the event’s website, the participants chose which school they were running for and raised funds for that school. Ms. Calabresi and Ms. Cen-doya’s classes created diora-mas based on Hooverville from the book “Bud Not Bud-dy”. The teachers selected this novel because they thought that their students would real-ly enjoy it, plus they would get a little history out of it at the same time. The students created their projects in class for a period of three days to complete the project. They used their book and the Hooverville setting to create their ideas. Literature At Its Best... Diorama Style

Ms. Costa and Ms. Miller’s Gar-dening Club recently had a herb sale last week and made around $50.00. They teamed up to make a soup that included items grown straight from their garden. The ingredients used in the soup were cabbage, cilantro, tomatoes, parsley, koji, and sugar peas.

Joel Cammy, from Ms. Cen-doya’s class, and Alyssa Braffman, from Ms. Cala-bresi’s class were chosen to be interviewed about their diorama. Joel Cammy’s dio-rama was based off of the destruction in Hooverville. Both students found all of the supplies they used to make their dioramas in their houses. The outcome of this project was educational while creative. Both teachers are very proud!

The people from our school included a wide variety of staff, parents, students, the President of the PTA, and a few administra-tors: Mr. Sosa, Mrs. Profeta, and Dr. Rodriguez. Out of all the people who participated, Mr. Sosa ended the race in 4th place! Overall, this event succeeded as an efficient fundraiser and as motivation for healthy habits!

“Spark: A Space Tail” is a bad film. What would have been a Star Wars rip-off with monkey puns becomes garbage. The plot begins with the king’s bro, Zhong, taking over the planet of Banna using a space kraken that creates kraken slicks, i.e. wormholes. 13 years later, a monkey, the titular Spark, wants to go on ad-ventures with his caretakers Vix and Chunk, aka the girl and the fat one. Through shenanigans, they steal a “space kraken finder”, find a space kraken, get it stolen from them, and get sucked into a “kraken slick”. They find Patrick Stewart, a member of the original royal guard. Then, Spark finds out that he was secret-ly the king’s son, and has magic powers with which he can attract his magic energy weapon. Which definitely isn’t the Force. Then, shenanigans happen, nobody dies, and a happy ending is had. To sum up the plot, nothing happens. The characters don’t devel-op, and the plot just contin-ues for the sake of continu-ing, which makes the choic-es worthless and the char-acters pointless. They could live or die for all I care, which is exactly why we rate this a 1. 5/10.

Have you heard about Ariel Weinberg, the teen fashion queen?

Hopefully you have be-cause she is such an in-spiration. Ariel started getting into fashion when she was in 1st grade and was around six years old. Her grandfather’s art inspired her to design.

She prints his art onto fabric and makes beautiful cloth-ing out of it. Ariel comes up with the ideas on her own and then asks others to judge between a couple of her designs to see which one is best. She designs whatever she desires, but prefers creating beach styled clothing most. Ariel hopes to be a fashion de-signer, as it is her future goal. The last couple of days, the PE teachers have been teach-ing CPR to the Middle School students. Heart dis-ease is the number one cause of death in America. SPEND IT WISELY! - Mrs. Castillo

To incorporate STEAM in Mrs. Callado’s Geometry class, the 8th graders creat-ed a replica of the Washing-ton Monument. The model constructed was measured using conversions given in the textbook to make the monument a smaller, porta-ble, size. While producing the structure, the color of the monument had to be the exact same, which in result caused the 8th graders to do research for specific infor-mation. The groups of 6 used cardboard boxes to

create the formation of the monument. They used meter sticks to hold the structure steady and upright. The re-sult: a huge success!
