When and where were you born?

I was born in Ulm, in Württemberg , Germany, on March 14, 1879.

Where did you live during the great depression? How old were you?

During the great depression I was a celebrity traveling all over Germany Intel the Nazis took over . From there I moved to the United States to permanently live and I never went back. I was 50 years old when this happened.

Name your family members and ages of each.

I had a wife named Meliva Maric that was born in 1875. we had three children. Hans Einstein who was born in 1904. Lieserl Einstein, who was born in 1902. and Edward Einstein, she was born in 1910. Then I got married again to my dear cousin Elsa Einstein, born in 1876.

What jobs did your parents have?

My father was a salesmen and engineer.

How did the recession effect your family?

The recession didn’t effect my family at all. We have all ways been wealthy. Or at least I have

ever since my discoveries.

What jobs or chores did you ? Did you get paid? If so how much? If not how were you

compensated?

I made money off of my discoveries in mathematics such as E= MC2

Tell me about your educational experiences.

In the 1930’s I wasn’t the on learning more likely the one teaching. If I had to name

something I especially remember going to a catholic elementary school.

I transferred to the Luitpold Gymnasium for primary and secondary school from ages 8 to 14.

My friend Max Talmud, a poor Jewish medical student from Poland gave me books on science, math, and philosophy. He was a big influence.

How were you disciplined at home?

I was raised in a Jewish home by their values, but we did not celebrate Jewish traditions.

What kind of neighborhood did you grow up in?

My family moved to Italy when I was 15. We lived in a typical Italian neighborhood.

What did you do for fun? What were your hobbies?

I used to like to build card houses many stories tall.

I also played violin.

How did you find out about important events?

I liked to read and I would read the newspapers.

What did you know back then about the following people? (John Dillinger, Paul Robeson, Dorothy Dandridge, Al Capone, Herbert Hoover, Homerville, equal rights groups, racists/ hate groups, union workers, labor organizers, redcaps, Pullman Porters, foster homes, orphanages, Pretty Boy Floyd, Machine Gun Kelly, Bonnie and Clyde, J. Edgar Hoover, Amelia Earhart, etc.)

Paul Robeson – I met Paul after his concert in 1935 and again 5 years later at a McCarter performance where he play the title role of The Emperor Jones.

I joined with Paul Robeson in the American Crusade to end lynching and signed on with a national committee to get rid of the racist Senator from Mississippi. He also came to the rescue of W.E.B. Dubois when he was on trial in federal court. The Judge dismissed the case rather than risk the publicity of me testifying.

Did you have any friends of the opposite race?

W.E.B. Dubois - Scholar and activist W.E.B. Du Bois was born on February 23, 1868 in Massachusetts. He studied at Harvard University and in 1895 became the first African American to earn a doctorate from Harvard. He wrote extensively and was the best known spokesperson for African American rights during the first half of the 20th century. He cofounded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

What were some of you favorite foods, snacks, candy, drinks, etc.?

My favorite foods were cheese and crackers, pizza, fettuccine, and spaghetti.

Did your family go on vactions?

We lived in Italy and in Germany. Everyday was a vacation.

Describe the places you lived. Did you family move during your childhood?

We lived in Munich, Germany. We moved to Pavia, Italy when I was 15 years old. I have also lived in Austria and Switzerland.

I have a sister, Maria.

Did anyone in your family go to college? What is the highest degree earned?

My sister Maria earned a degree in Romance languages from the University of Bern.

What else do you remember about the Great Depression?

Before the depression my family lost most of its money but then once I became famous I picked my family strait back up in the early stages of the depression.
