Sunshine Coast catchment area The Sunshine Coast catchment includes the Caloundra Child Safety Service Centre, Gympie Child Safety Service Centre and the Maroochydore Child Safety Service Centre.

Sunshine Coast catchment profile On 30 June 2012, it was estimated there were 371,729 people residing within the Sunshine Coast catchment area. This represented approximately 8% of the estimated resident population of Queensland (4,565,529 people). The estimated number of children aged 0-17 years was 84,568 people (approximately 8% of the Queensland population of children aged 0-17 years).

The population of people who identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in Sunshine Coast as at 30 June 2012 was 5,881 (1.7% of the total population in the catchment). In Queensland, the population of people who identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander was 155,824 (3.6% of the total population).
